Lead and succeed at the YMCA
WHY WORK IN AQUATICS? To help others As a lifeguard or swim instructor, you are responsible for keeping others safe. You also help others learn how to keep themselves safe in and around the water and enjoy swimming for fun, fitness or as a competitive sport.
To be part of a team Aquatics is all about teamwork, respect and trust. You will learn to work with others in any situation. Many life-long friendships are formed while working at the pool. Respect and trust are part of the job.
FOR FREE! Did you know that our certification courses are offered free to YMCA aquatic volunteers? If you are 14 or over, sign up to be an aquatic volunteer at any of our pools, and weâ€™ll provide all the training needed to become a lifeguard or swim instructor at no cost.
To keep fit Lifeguards need to keep physically and mentally fit. You will be motivated to keep in shape in and out of the pool to ensure you are at your best with during your ongoing training and daily job responsibilities.
START YOUR AQUATICS JOURNEY AT THE YMCA! Lifeguarding and Swim Instructing are one of the most important and responsible jobs. As a lifeguard or swim instructor you will carry great responsibilities, which is why extensive training is required and why becoming certified is such a big achievement. Both roles are fun, rewarding and develop important leadership and life skills.
