Forord I udstillingen Collections inviteres beskueren ind i Nana RH Bastrups maleriske univers af papkasseophobninger, hvori udvalgte elementer såsom blomster, bøger og masker er "pakket ind" og arrangeret i samlinger. Ophobning af objekter har længe været et kunstnerisk greb i Nana RH Bastrups praksis og kan ses i hendes malerier og installationer. Den seneste større installation af kasserede og akkumulerede papkasser var i 2020, hvor hun deltog i Changwon Sculpture Biennale i Sydkorea. Mange mennesker kan nikke genkendende til det at samle på noget og nogle endda måske at opbygge en samling. Det kan f.eks. dreje sig om frimærker, mønter eller piber. Inden for kunstens verden er der også samlere; private såvel som offentlige, der bliver fascineret af kunst og gennem årene erhverver sig flere og flere kunstværker for at berige deres samling hjemme eller på arbejdspladsen. En kunstner kan ligeledes råde over samlinger, og denne kan tilmed tjene som inspirationskilde og research til værkproduktion og -udvikling. Dette er også tilfældet i Nana RH Bastrups atelier og i værkerne ses f.eks. hendes fascination af masker, som hun enten ejer eller drømmer om at eje.

I hendes billedverden dominerer ophobninger af objekter og rytmer, hvor særligt kamæleoneffekten med farveskift og tilpasningsevne er et malerisk ledemotiv med hensyn til indhold, form og betydning. De nedadløbende farvespor på lærrederne bidrager til en malerisk improvisation i de ellers så velordnede kompositioner. Udover malerier udstilles også en bemalet dobbeltsidet flytbar foldeskærm og en gipsbearbejdet papkasseskulptur. Nana RH Bastrup (f. 1987) bor i København og arbejder med collage, fotografi, maleri, installation, skulptur, tegning og video. I sin kunstneriske praksis er hun optaget af forbrugskultur, samlinger og identitet. Hendes værkproduktion er baseret på idéen om, at alt nyt bygger på noget gammelt, og derfor recycler hun sine tidligere projekter ved at bemale dokumentarisk fotomateriale. Nana RH Bastrups værker er blevet udstillet i forskellige gallerier, institutioner og udstillingssteder i ind- og udland. Foreword The exhibition Collections invites the viewer into Nana RH Bastrup‘s picturesque universe of cardboard box accumulations, in which select elements such as books, flowers and masks are "boxed up" and arranged in collections. Accumulation of objects has long been an artistic tool in Nana RH Bastrup‘s practice and can be seen in her paintings and installations. The most recent major installation of discarded and accumulated cardboard boxes was in 2020, when she participated in the Changwon Sculpture Biennale in South Korea. Many people dapple in collecting something and some may even build a proper collection such as stamps, coins or pipes. In the world of art, there are also collectors; private as well as public, who become fascinated by art and over the years acquire more and more works of art to enrich their collection at home or in the workplace. An artist may also have collections which may even serve as a source of inspiration and research for work production and development. This is also the case in Nana RH Bastrup‘s studio and in her works one sees for example her fascination with masks, which she either owns or dreams of owning.

In her pictorial world, accumulations of objects and rhythms dominate, where especially the chameleon effect with color change and adaptability is a picturesque leitmotif in terms of content, form and meaning. The descending color traces on the canvases contribute to a picturesque improvisation in the otherwise ever so orderly compositions. In addition to paintings, a painted double-sided portable folding screen and a plastered cardboard box sculpture are also on display. Nana RH Bastrup (b. 1987) lives in Copenhagen and works with collage, photography, painting, installation, sculpture, drawing and video. In her artistic practice, she focusses on consumer culture, collections and identity. Her work production is based on the idea that everything new is based on something old, and therefore she recycles her previous projects by painting on documentary photo material. Nana RH Bastrup‘s works have been exhibited in various galleries, institutions and exhibition venues at home and abroad. She has already been exhibited several places in Denmark in 2021. Biografi l Biography

Nana RH Bastrup (f. 1987 i København, Danmark) er uddannet fra Hochschule für bildende Künste i Hamburg (2015) hos prof. Pia Stadtbäumer og har desuden studeret et semester på Akademie der Bildenden Künste i Wien hos prof. Florian Reither (2013). Nana RH Bastrup (b. 1987 in Copenhagen, Denmark) graduated from Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg (University of Fine Arts Hamburg) (2015) under prof. Pia Stadtbäumer and she has also studied a semester at Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Vienna (Academy of Fine Arts Vienna) under prof. Florian Reither (2013).
