What does RAWR mean?

R = Resilience

R the last letter in RAWR and the last core value of our organisation – Resilience.

In the realm of RAWR Support Services, the significance of 'R' extends beyond its position in the acronym. It embodies a core value that permeates our organisational ethos – Resilience. At RAWR, our primary objective is to cultivate resilience in our participants, recognising it as the key to navigating life's complexities.

Resilience, to us, is more than a concept; it's the dynamic process of effectively adapting to challenges, showcasing mental, emotional, and behavioural flexibility.

Our participants, inherently possessing this quality, inspire us daily. We strive not just to acknowledge but to nurture this innate resilience, transforming it into a tangible skill.

Beyond our participants, the RAWR Team serves as living examples, embodying resilience and imparting invaluable lessons to those we guide. In every trial faced and conquered, resilience becomes not just a skill but a testament to growth and strength.

Word from the Director Welcome to February’s Newsletter!

The energy at RAWR has been nothing short of electric this month, and we're buzzing with excitement to share some fantastic news.

Drumroll, please! We are thrilled to announce the addition of two respite houses to our RAWR family – one nestled in the charm of Warwick and the other in the vibrant heart of Toowoomba. These 4-bedroom havens are equipped with all the modern comforts, creating warm and welcoming spaces for our participants.

A round of applause is in order for the progress on our Stanthorpe office. A massive shout-out to Godfrey and Scott from Green Solar Cleaning for transforming our space with a fresh coat of paint. Special thanks to Anderson Carpets in Stanthorpe for providing the carpet that will soon grace our office – stay tuned for the grand reveal in early February!

Excitement is building for our Stanthorpe office open day, so keep an eye on our Facebook page for all the details. It's going to be an event you won't want to miss!

MEET THE OFFICE STAFF DEIV My role: Administration Assistant Time at RAWR: Nearly 8 months Background: I’ve worked in hospitality, childcare and I’m also a dance teacher, but this is my first time working within the disability sector! On top of this, I’m also in my 3rd year of studying a Bachelor of Psychology at UniSQ. Personal Qualities: I’d like to think I’m friendly, bubbly, approachable and empathetic. I also love to laugh and make other people laugh too.

What do I love about my role: For some reason I’ve always dreamed of being an office girl, so I love the work itself and learning all the skills that come with fulfilling this role. But most of all, I love the people I work alongside with. Whether this is interacting with the participants, or the amazing staff, I always look forward coming to work. And I also love making these newsletters each month!

Future Plans for my role: To stay!

But I hope to keep learning about the disability sector and gain more knowledge that’ll help me to assist our participants better - whether that’s actually in the field, or behind the scenes. I also hope to work alongside RAWR if my studies ever require practical components.

OUR NEW BEDROOMS

RESPITE HOUSE IN WARWICK! A quick sneak peek into our new RAWR Respite House in Warwick. We currently have capacity to provide supports in this beautifully, newly built home, close to Warwick CBD, Warwick Hospital and Rose City Shopping Centre. We’re still in the process of getting it all nice and ready but it's definitely a start!

Valentine's Day February 14 Although some of us may roll our eyes when Valentine's Day comes around, it’s actually a beautiful reminder to celebrate love in all its forms.

Whether it's romantic love, the love of family and friends, or simply the love we have for ourselves, Feb 14th is a perfect opportunity to express gratitude for the special people in our lives. At RAWR we love to spread love in different ways, but it’s most prominent in our compassionate care to all those we support whether that’s our amazing participants or each other. So go give your best friend the biggest hug, your pet the sweetest kisses as we all have a happy Valentine's Day. Let's spread kindness, appreciation, and affection not just today, but every day!

Our favourite recipe Method Ingredients

4 tbsp flour 3 tbsp sugar 1 tbsp sprinkles + more for topping 3 tbsp milk 1 tbsp vegetable oil 2 tsp vanilla extract Vanilla ice cream for topping

1. In a large mug, mix all ingredients until just combined.

2. Microwave on high for 90 seconds to 2 minutes, watching to make sure it doesn’t spill over (depending on the size of the mug).

3. Let it cool for one minute before eating.

Top with ice cream and sprinkles (optional).

4. Enjoy!
