Hello everyone,
Here we are in December and would like to wish everyone a happy Christmas and safe New Year!
This year has been a busy year, and I would like to thank all our hard-working RAWRsome team for the ongoing commitment to our participants. Day after day, week after week and month after month of providing meaningful support and activities...Thank you so much.
We have many plans and ideas for 2025, looking at ways to add to existing activities and some new strategies that will enhance RAWR in all our locations.
Stay safe and look after your loved ones and yourself too.
Best regards,
Dave Managing director at RAWR Support Services
Throughout this edition of our monthly newsletter, there are 10 of these RAWR Christmas lions hidden throughout. Let’s see if you can find all of them!
“You can take everything I have You can break everything I am Like I'm made of glass Like I'm made of paper
Go on and try to tear me down I will be rising from the ground Like a skyscraper Like a skyscraper ”
My role: SIL House Leader
Time at RAWR: 3 years in Feb 2025
Background: My first job I was a pattern maker cutter for a bridal company in Brisbane, I worked for this company for 30years.
When I am not at work you will usually find me in the garden.
Personal qualities: I think in the role that I have now, one of the main qualities you need is patience, which I have. I am also a caring person, and I like to be very organized.
What do you love about your role: I love just being there for the clients in the house as well as the staff that work in the house. We all work as a team in the house and all the staff in the house care greatly about the clients which I am very proud of.
Future plans for my role: I would like to stay in the role that I have as house leader for as long as possible, as we have a great bunch of ladies working in the house and it is a pleasure to lead them.
The word to learn in Auslan and Kurdish Kurmanji for this edition is something that many of us get excited to decorate for leading up to the festive season...
How to sign it:
Stand arm up, resting elbow on back of other hand and wiggle your fingers, as though leaves on a tree.
Kurmanji! Kurmanji! D

How adorable is this?
SW Sophia brought Freddie, her baby goat into the Warwick office for everyone to have some pats and cuddles! Freddie was just adored by everyone, and it's simple things like this that create the biggest smiles for our participants and staff.
Thanks again Sophia!
The Endeavour Ride is an annual charity cycling event that raises funds for the Endeavour Foundation, an organisation supporting people with disabilities. It’s a fun, community-focused event that encourages both experienced and novice cyclists to participate in an experience that contributes and supports this meaningful cause. Our participants had a wonderful day participating and they can’t wait for next year!
The 2024 bowling competition has ended for the year! The last Sunday of November was the participants’ final chance to bring home victory in the RAWR bowling competition before the trophy presentation on the following Wednesday!
Our 2024 champion was...Billy, and our 2024 runner up was...Heather!

This presentation not only highlighted the overall champion but acknowledge everyone ' s efforts throughout the year! Each and every one of them improved month after month, and they can't wait for it start up again next year to continue refining and showing off their skills. Hopefully we can have some more participants join us to make it an even bigger and better outing! Here's to a fantastic year of bowling, and we give a huge thank you to all who helped make this possibleespecially Leanne who coordinated it all
Jill had a fantastic time travelling to Canberra to visit her sister! So grateful to have had SW Leanne join her to make the trip even more special. Can’t wait for the next adventure and memories that will be made!

What an amazing day at the Queensland Drag Racing Championships! Billy is a massive drags fan, so you can imagine he was beyond excited to attend and watch Brendan (husband of RAWRSS' very own, Brooke) race in a car that RAWR is a proud sponsor of As you can see, he had an absolute blast and even got to sit in the car - he can't stop talking about this fantastic outing!
We also give a huge congratulations to Brendan, for taking home his FIRST WIN We couldn't be more thrilled for you and it's awesome to know one of our participants got to see this!

One of our amazing participants, Donna, along with her travel companion SW Karla, got to set sail on a breathtaking cruise to the Whitsundays this month! ✨ They got up to so much and the weather made this trip look even better! Karla mentioned they were gifted a shore tour by a beautiful couple who couldn’t get a refund on their tour (lucky ducks!). They also went to Airlie beach, swam in a billabong, went to a beautiful lookout & beach (no swimming as its stinger season), then went to an amazing resort for lunch and a swim – what an adventure! We’re so happy Donna and Karla got to experience the magic of the Whitsundays together, and seeing our participants enjoy moments like this is what RAWR is all about
Congratulations to all our November winners, we hope you enjoy your lucky prize!
