about us Exclusive to Garden Centres Over the last 25 years Meadow View Stone has become an established and trusted supplier of Decorative Aggregates, Rockery Stone, Horticultural Products and Paving exclusively to the Garden Centre trade.

OUR UNIQUE PRODUCTS - A THIRD OF ALL TURNOVER Since the company’s acquisition by Long Rake Spar in 2009, the product collection has increased to offer a selection of unique and exclusive European products, sourced via direct bulk shipments into four dockside storage facilities. These products now account for over a third of all turnover.

STOCK HOLDING - IN EXCESS OF £5 MILLION The three established production sites in Derbyshire, Shropshire and East Sussex have given the company key logistical advantages, increased production capacity and provided extensive stock holding. A commitment of in excess of £5 million of stock holding with the ability to store over 100,000 tonnes of loose bulk shipments at these 4 dockside storage locations (Rosyth, Gunness, Garston and Rye), has provided strong commercial and logistical advantages over all current competitors.

PREMIUM PRODUCTS - WASHED & UNSURPASSED QUALITY We pride ourselves on supplying superior quality products by utilising our extensive washing and processing facilities located at our three production sites. Being the only supplier in our sector to have these facilities ensures that our premium collection of decorative aggregates are supplied cleaner, more consistently sized and better suited to retail than our competitors. Similarly, our collection of paving and ancillary products undergoes vigorous quality control testing to ensure that every slab and piece of concrete leaving production is consistent in colour, size and durability.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Our environmental policy dictates that we only supply ethically sourced materials from sustainable deposits, being operated within current legislative and ecological parameters. We also undertake to source recycled products or industrial bi-products for relevant applications where possible.

Our plastic, paper, cardboard and polypropylene bags from our processes are recycled by a registered Waste Carrier company.

EXTENSIVE STOCK HOLDING THE SITES Meadow View are owned by one of the largest independent decorative aggregate companies in the UK, who are currently the only UK supplier who bulk ships products into dockside storage facilities, at four locations which hold in excess of 100,000 tonnes of raw material.

THE SHIPMENTS This not only means that we are fully in control of our own supply chain, rather than through intermediaries, but also that far greater volumes of stock are held at these strategic sites to react quickly and dynamically to demand. These sites also store a selection of UK sourced products to give assured stock holding of key products and offer strong logistical savings.

THE STOCK Furthermore, we have the ability to instantaneously increase the volume of shipments of our raw material supply, particularly with our overseas partners to react quickly to any increases in demand.

THE PRODUCTS With extensive washing and processing facilities our premium products are supplied cleaner and more accurately sized than all competitors.

Finer particles are further generated during the loading, unloading and bulk shipping, where the chippings or gravels rub together during transit. The washing and rinsing process removes this silt, with a screening process further removing the smaller particles. The finished result, is a superior, clean and accurately sized product; that showcases the natural colours within the gravel/chippings, and reveals the premium aesthetics of these more exclusive products.

Stock profile

There was a large amount of UK sourced shingle/pea gravels, which accounted for 45% of the range, all very similar with no great point of difference and all only able to achieve quite low RRP’s.

A good range of Slate and 7 other UK sourced chippings with a price entry level pebble completed the range. This resulted in 19 out of the 20 lines retailing at £5.99 or below, with only one premium product retailing at £7.99. The size of the area enabled huge potential with the ability to offer a greater variety, more premium products and a more balanced range that could generate big increases in turnover.

What made them switch?

A product analysis was done which clearly illustrated that better selling alternatives were available and that by switching they would greatly increase the unit sales value and overall turnover of the centre significantly. The average sales price of the new suggested range was calculated at £7.49/ unit an increase of 41% from the previous £5.31/unit, and a projected turnover increase in the new lines of £15K.

digital tools Discover our digital tools to boost sales Our website makes online browsing as easy as possible for Garden Centres and shoppers alike. Using the website helps gardeners to find the right product for their project, alongside discovering landscaping ideas and inspirational blogs.

The site also features a fully active trade portal helping Garden Centres to place orders, view the latest product trends and maximise their sales opportunities. In the trade portal Centres can access Point of Sale marketing, product lifestyle imagery and view handy hints on creating eye catching displays. These tools will help Centres to improve product placement and allow stockists to build an enviable reputation as a ‘go to’ retailer.

On the website consumers can access a wealth of product information before they step foot in store, allowing them to plan their projects with a leading emphasis on directing them to their nearest stockist.

ordering information Ordering parameters DECORATIVE AGGREGATE COLLECTIONS Each pre-pack pallet or bulk bag equates to one full pallet with a minimum order requirement of 5 pallets, e.g. 2 x rockery and 2 x pallets of slate and 1 x bulk bag of decorative chippings would meet the 5 tonne pallet requirement.

PAVING COLLECTION Most products are packed at 500kg per pallet, therefore 2 pallets of paving equate to 1 pallet of aggregates, e.g. 10 pallets of paving make up the 5 tonne pallet requirement.

A mix of any of the above, e.g. 3 pallets of aggregates and 4 pallets of paving make up the 5 tonne minimum pallet requirement.

For customers who are not able to reach the above minimum order requirements we can despatch on a palletised carrier network, for which a small additional surcharge for delivery will be applied to the order.

Our packaging BULK BAGS For larger requirements our products can be supplied in bulk bags, either via our home delivery service or for supply ex store (see next page for Direct Aggregates Service).

STANDARD PREPACKS Our range of decorative aggregates are supplied in premium quality, bright and attractive pre-pack bags, with clearly legible fonts in a highly transparent film which gives product clarity and showcases the cleanliness of our products. All prepack bags are supplied black wrapped to prolong the shelf life of the products, with each pallet clearly labelled for ease of locating in store.

COVERAGE

Our standard prepacks, when laid at 40mm depth, will cover approx 0.32m2.

Typically bulk bags when laid at 40mm depth will cover approx 11.5m2.

Please be aware these calculations are given purely as a guide and will vary dependent on ground conditions and the choice of aggregates used.

stone delivered to your home This drop ship service alleviates the need to organise onward delivery from your store, whilst also eliminating the need for surplus stock holding. This simple and efficient service enables a far greater selection of products to be promoted without the need for physical stock holding, with only minimal retail space required to display the Point of Sale board.

This helpful, direct delivery service has now been extended to include our paving collection and edgings, offering the same professional delivery service with the added benefits of eliminating stock handling of these more heavy and awkward products in store. delivery criteria Home Delivery Restrictions SIZE OF VEHICLES Please check that your customer has sufficient access to accommodate this size of vehicle at their chosen point of delivery, as smaller vehicles are of limited availability and requests for these may delay delivery by up to two working days.

ROUTE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS PROPERTY Please make sure that the route to the chosen delivery address is free from low hanging branches or obstacles, including parked cars, which may cause damage or obstruct delivery vehicles.

ACCESS The vehicle will require a minimum opening width of 3m to access the chosen delivery address. If your access cannot accommodate vehicles of this size it may result in failure to deliver, or the goods will then be delivered to the nearest kerbside at the discretion of the driver.

OFFLOADING The driver will unload using a tail-lift offload and manual pump truck which can only be operated on: • Solid Hard Surfaces.

• Surfaces Free From Gravel or Grass.

• Flat & Level Ground With NO Inclines/Declines.

RECEIPT OF GOODS Please make sure that your customer is available to receive the order and sign for the material, or has made prior arrangements for a third party to do so on their behalf.

The following delivery criteria, needs to be assessed and agreed with your customer to ensure a smooth delivery is achieved.

Failure to comply with these factors may delay receipt of the order, and may incur additional costs for failed or re-deliveries.

We can accommodate some customer’s specific delivery restrictions and would be happy to discuss these bespoke requirements to try and accommodate delivery – please discuss with a member of our sales team.
