Qualification for the posts SECTION-A RESEARCH SCIENTIST II (NON-MEDICAL) ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: First class master’s degree in the relevant subjects from a recognized university with 4 years R&D / teaching experience in the relevant* subject after 1st class Masters degree.

Or Second class M. Sc. + Ph. D degree in the relevant* subject from a recognized University with 4 years R&D / teaching experience in the relevant subject after M. Sc. + Ph. D. Or B. Tech degree in relevant Engineering subject with six years R&D / Teaching experience in the relevant* subject after B. Tech degree.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: i. Doctorate degree or M. Tech degree in relevant* subject or engineering subject from a recognized university for candidates with first class relevant degree. ii. Additional Post doctoral research / training experience in relevant* subjects in recognized institute(s). iii. Work experience in virology research and diagnostics iv. Knowledge of handling and maintenance of virus cultures v. Experience in molecular biology techniques viz. nucleic acid amplification techniques, sequence analysis, cloning and expression. vi. Work experience in Biosafety level-3 or higher laboratory vii. Training and experience in bioinformatics for pathogen genome analysis and metagenomics. viii. Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools / Data Management.

NOTES: i. Candidates with Doctorate degree in Life Sciences / relevant subjects shall be recruited as Research Scientist I (Non-Medical) after requisite training under Talent Search Scheme as per Schedule-IV. ii. PhD in the relevant subject shall be treated equivalent to three years experience. iii. M. Tech in the relevant subjects shall be treated equivalent to two years experience. *Relevant subjects: Medical microbiology/Virology/Biotechnology/Veterinary Microbiology/Veterinary Virology /Genetics/Genetic engineering

SECTION-B RESEARCH SCIENTIST I (NON-MEDICAL) ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1st class Master’s degree in relevant* subject from a recognized university Or 2nd class M. Sc. + Ph.D degree in relevant* subject from a recognized university.

Or BE / B. Tech degree in relevant engineering subject with 2 years experience or equivalent degree from a recognized university.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: i. Doctorate or M. Tech Degree in relevant subject or engineering subject from a recognized university for candidates with first class relevant degree. ii. Additional Post doctoral research / training experience in relevant subjects in relevant subjects in recognized institute(s). iii. Two years R&D / Teaching experience in relevant subject after obtaining essential qualification. iv. Work experience in virology research and diagnostics v. Knowledge of handling and maintenance of virus cultures vi. Experience in molecular biology techniques viz. nucleic acid amplification techniques, sequence analysis, cloning and expression. vii. Work experience in Biosafety level-3 or higher laboratory viii. Training and experience in bioinformatics for pathogen genome analysis and metagenomics. ix. Knowledge of Computer Applications or Business Intelligence tools / Data Management

NOTES: i. PhD degree in relevant subjects shall be treated equivalent to three years experience. ii. Candidates with PhD or M.
