WALK IN INTERVIEW NOTIFICATION Applications are invited for the following posts to be filled through walk-in-interview under the research project “Delivering more produce and income to farmers through enhancing genetic gains for chickpea and pigeonpea” funded by Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Govt. of India. The details of the posts are as follows.

OR M.Sc. in Genetics and Plant Breeding or M.Sc. in Plant/Agril. Biotechnology with 1st Division or 60% marks or equivalent overall grade point average with at least two years of research experience as evidenced from Fellowship/ Associateship / Training/ other engagements.

Duration Initially for 6 months and likely to be extended further based on availability of budget.

Age limit 40 years for men; 45 years for women

Nature of work: Research Associate: 1. Development of crossing block and effecting crosses for various traits in chickpea as per the objectives of the programme.

2. Advancing breeding material and making desirable selections through marker-assisted selection for different traits (working knowledge of molecular marker techniques is desirable).

3. Maintenance and evaluation of promising lines of chickpea and taking field observations.

4. The work will be carried out at State Level Biotechnology Centre, MPKV, Rahuri and Pulses Improvement Project, MPKV, Rahuri.

5. Undertaking farmer’s participatory varietal selection trials and demonstrations of chickpea varieties on farmer’s fields in different villages of three districts namely Ahmednagar, Solapur and Pune and frequent monitoring of these trials. This will also involve collection of data from farmers. As this programme will involve traveling and interaction with farmers of three districts, candidate should be very much inclined for travelling as and when required.

6. Computer competency is essential and knowledge of data analysis software is desirable.

7. Preparing progress report of the project and maintaining all the project related documents.

8. Any other work assigned by the Principal Investigator from time to time.

3. Analysis work in the laboratory (preparation of solutions, buffers, etc.).

4. The work will be carried out at State Level Biotechnology Centre, MPKV, Rahuri and Pulses Improvement Project, MPKV, Rahuri.

5. Undertaking farmer’s participatory varietal selection trials and demonstrations of chickpea varieties on farmer’s fields in different villages of three districts namely Ahmednagar, Solapur and Pune and frequent monitoring of these trials. Terms and conditions for the contractual posts: 1. The selected candidates will be required to give an undertaking that he / she will not leave the assignment half way and shall complete the work in prescribed time limit.

2. The candidates selected will have to execute a bond on stamp paper as per university rules.
