FACULTY & POST-DOCTORAL POSITIONS Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), Manipal invites applications from eligible candidates for a limited number of vacancies at the level of Post-Doctoral Research Fellow, Assistant Professor and Associate Professor at Manipal Centre for Natural Sciences (MCNS), Centre of Excellence, Manipal, a constituent unit of MAHE, Manipal. Current sub-fields of interest are listed below under each discipline. The Manipal Centre for Natural Sciences is dedicated to the pursuit of fundamental research. Applications reflecting a demonstrated capability in addressing fundamental questions in Physics, Chemistry, Pure & Applied Mathematics and the Earth Sciences will receive full consideration. Weightage will be given to candidates who demonstrate the ability to conduct blue sky research with the potential for generating break-through ideas and future scientific leadership. Recent retirees and foreign nationals are invited to apply and may be considered for suitable posts.

Eligibility:

FACULTY A minimum of 3 years' post-doctoral experience at a reputed institution together with an excellent publication record is a pre-requisite for the post of Assistant Professor. Applications for earlier carrier faculty positions are preferred from candidates who apply within 5 years from the date their PhD was awarded. All appointments are commensurate with experience. Applications highlighting teaching experience at the post graduate level within a research environment will be accorded additional weightage.

POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWS Exceptional candidates who wish to work independently in any of the subject areas listed are invited to apply for Post-doctoral positions. Highly motivated recent PhD graduates are encouraged to apply. Applications received within 5 years of graduating with a PhD degree will receive full consideration. All appointments are commensurate with experience.

PURE AND APPLIED MATHEMATICS Minimum requirement is a PhD in any branch of pure or applied mathematics with an excellent academic record. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to take the lead in initiating and setting up a group to address contemporary problems in the field of interest. Deadline: 30 Dec 2018

CHEMISTRY (1) Theoretical and computational chemistry (2) Atmospheric chemistry (3) Isotope geochemistry (4) nuclear- and radio-chemistry. Candidates with demonstrated expertise in conceptualising and attempting challenging problems in the fundamental domain with an expertise in one or more of the following: R&D in the development of advanced instrumentation and experimental techniques, quantitative, modelling and parallel computing, will be preferred. COMPUTATIONAL SCIENCES AND SCIENTIFIC COMPUTING (1) Scientific Computing; (2) Quantum computing; (3) Data structures and algorithms; (4) Optimization for parallel scientific computing.; (5) System administrator for a H P Unix cluster with parallel architecture for scientific computing. Those with Red Hat certification will be preferred. Eligibility: PhD and Post-doctoral experience / industry experience in related disciplines with skills for developing new computational techniques, algorithms and paradigms on parallel architecture required for modelling and solving complex physical problems.
