DurationofPhDcourse: Thedurationisfor5yearsandamaximumof7years.

Eligibility Criteria:
a) Essential qualification
a) MSc/MTechinanyareaoflifesciences/MPharma/MVSc/MBBSoranequivalentdegree.
b) 55%totalmarksorequivalentscoreinthequalifyingdegree(5%relaxationinmarkswill begiventoSC/ST/OBC(non-creamylayer)/PWDasperGOInorms)
c) Inadditiontotheabove,candidatesapplyingforadmissionmustqualifyanational-level testforpursuingtheDoctorofPhilosophyprogram.Suchtestsincludedoctoralfellowship or admissioneligibility tests conducted at the national level by recognized government agencies, such as the University Grants Commission (UGC), Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), IndianCouncil for Medical Research (ICMR), Departmentof Science and Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), or any other government-recognizedagency.
d) Additionally, applicants who have qualified in GATE or any other national-level examinationwillalsobeconsideredforadmission.
Candidates who have appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying degree examination (final year/finalsemester)andareawaitingtheirresultsarealsoeligibletoapply.However,admission issubjecttofulfillingtheaforementionedcriteria/requirementssatisfactorilyatthetimeofjoining.
b) Fellowship:
1) The students admitted to the program should have their own fellowship from any of the recognizedgrantingagencies
2) In addition to this, a limited number of selected candidates who do not have their own fellowship(suchasGATEorNationalexamqualified)maybeofferedtheNABI-Corefellowship basedonmerit.
TheintakeofstudentsfortheAcademicYear2023-24is31,andthereservationoftheseatswillbe asfollows:
a) 27%seatsforOBC(non-creamylayer),15%seatsforSC,7.5%seatsforSTand5%seats forPersonswithDisability(PWD)asperthereservationpolicyoftheGovernmentofIndia (with minimum disabilityto the extentof 40%) inpursuance of Provisions of Rights of PersonswithDisabilitiesAct2016.Reservationof5%seatsinrespectofPWDcandidates shallbedonehorizontally,aspertheGovernmentofIndiaGuidelines/Policy.
b) The candidates belonging to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWSs) who are not covered under the reservation for SCs, STs, and OBCs will have 10% reservation in admissions. Thecandidatesshouldsubmitthecertificateasper Annexure – “A”
c) All reserved categorycandidates are required to submita certificate inrespectof their claims from the appropriate authority as notified by the Government of India for the purposefromtimetotime.
Screening cum Selection
ApplicationsreceivedONLYthroughtheONLINEMODEintheprescribedformatwillbe considered.Incompleteapplicationswillbesummarilyrejected.
The consideration of qualifications as 'equivalent' to the essential qualifications stated aboveshallbethesolediscretionoftheScreening/SelectionCommittee.
Please note that the prescribed essential qualifications are minimum, and the mere possessionofthesamedoesnotentitleanycandidatetobecalledfortheinterview/VivaVoce. Merit-based shortlisting of the candidates will be carried out by the screening committee (on a well-defined criteria including excellent academic credentials, own fellowship etc.). However, the institute will have the discretion to fix qualifying marks fortheinterview/Viva-Voce(whereverapplicable).

Chandigarhwillhavethejurisdiction.
