HAND ON WORKSHOP ON PHARMACOGENOMICS
DEPARTMENT OF HAEMATOLOGY, CMC VELLORE
Background Pharmacogenomics aims in studying variability in drug response due to heredity. It is well acknowledged that genetic differences could affect drug response in many haematological disorders. Therefore, this workshop is aimed at training students (M.D Pharmacology/Clinical Pharmacology/M.Pharm) laboratory personnel in the basics of Pharmacogenomics About the course This course will cover basic concepts and techniques, standardization of tests and quality control in molecular diagnostics. The participants will be exposed to several molecular techniques commonly used in Pharmacogenomics Techniques that will be focused Nucleic acid extraction from blood PCR, Electrophoresis cDNA synthesis Real-time PCR Fluorescent PCR Genetic Variant Analysis DNA sequencing Demonstration of advanced techniques including next generation sequencing technologies Organising secretary Dr. B. Poonkuzhali & Dr. Eunice Sindhuvi E Professors Department of Haematology CMC, Vellore- 632004. Ph: 0416 2283476/2283569
