Institute of Life Sciences (ILS), Bhubaneswar, an autonomous institute of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India invites applications from Indian Nationals to join in the following position. Name of position: Research Associate (01 position) Project: Bhubaneswar Biophysical Characterization Facility. Job Specification: To carry out structural and biophysical analyses of proteins involved in infectious diseases, cancer, and plant biology. Fellowship: Rs. 47000/- per month + @16% HRA Eligibility and Selection: Ph. D. in Biotechnology/Life Sciences or any of the allied subjects. An ideal candidate will be competent in at least some of the techniques such as recombinant protein expression, chromatographic protein purification, biophysical characterization of macromolecules and protein crystallography, as required for the project. Experience working with an in-house X-ray diffractometer and/or analytical ultra-centrifuge will be advantageous for this position, but not a must. Candidates who have submitted Ph.D. thesis and are waiting for defense/viva voce may also apply. But for such candidates, the fellowship amount will be that of an SRF until he/she defends the thesis. Selection will be carried out through application screening, followed by an interview process. The position is initially for one year and will be extended for three more years on a yearly basis upon satisfactory performance.
