LEPRA Society is an organisation working for people affected by Leprosy, lymphatic filariasis, TB, HIV/AIDS & other NTDs, Eye Care and governed by a board comprising of distinguished individuals from across India.
LEPRA Society-BPHRC is a DSIR-SIRO recognized public health and research center with a specialized facility for services and research in leprosy, TB, and LF. The center has a laboratory research division with state-of-the-art facility for mycobacteriology laboratory including culture, molecular diagnostics etc. The center is recognized by MoHFW, GoI as referral facility for antimicrobial resistance in TB and leprosy and works closely with the field programmes across LEPRA’s operational states in India. The laboratory research division conducts applied and operational research of multidisciplinary nature in the identified thematic areas of strategic importance, such as innovative diagnostics, pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance in collaboration with universities, research institutes and other NGOs conducting
We are looking for a young and enthusiastic and experienced researcher who is self-driven and well versed with research in microbiology and other allied areas. The candidate should be interested to work in the development sector with a keen interest in multidisciplinary research in the areas of leprosy, TB, Lymphatic Filariasis and other relevant tropical diseases of national and international interest.
The position is for immediate employment and a project tenure based.
Location: LEPRA society-BPHRC, Cherlapally ,Hyderabad
Roles and responsibilities:
Strategic planning for high quality and high impact laboratory research basing on the ongoing work and upcoming research strategy
Identify priority areas and write successful proposals for external research funding
Plan and carry out relevant laboratory research work, biosafety and infection control activities to comply with the regulatory standards
Be a team players with the Head-Research and other members of the research team in conducting the ongoing and new research projects
Develop lab protocols, SOPS and other technical documents for research and lab services in the identified key areas.
Be an academic and technical resource in the field of relevant areas of microbiology. Identify team capacity building needs and implementing the same
Guide the research students in their project work.
Networking and collaboration with like minded institutes and individual researchers
Coordinate procurement of scientific equipment, laboratory reagents and etc.,
Technical support to the Lab services team and overall supervision of the laboratory activities
To carry out any other responsibility assigned from time to time
Worthy candidates will get an opportunity to work in a well-recognized BSL-3 mycobacteriology lab with ongoing research and lab services projects.
Maintain proper records, registers and reports up to date and documentation relating to research accurately.
Documentation for regulatory purposes such as DSIR, NABL, RNTCP, NLEP, WHO etc.
Indent and maintain equipment and other material required for the research activity
Data management and analysis.
Assist in preparing project progress and other mandatory reports of the laboratory.
MD/PhD Microbiology/infectious diseases with at least two years of relevant experience in active research and interest to work in leprosy, TB, Lymphatic Filariasis and other relevant tropical diseases of national and international interest.
Proven track record of independent research/post-doctoral fellowships/or similar experience as evident from peer reviewed research publications, patents, technical guidelines etc.
Expertise in microbiological procedures including molecular diagnostics, AMR surveillance and other microbiological areas
Knowledge/Exposure to biomedical laboratory standards/GCLP/regulatory mechanisms like NABL is desirable
Shall be a team player and work in a team of senior and young scientists, while thriving to establish independent and relevant scientific research
Dissemination of the evidence generated through the scientific studies with the wider organizational teams and other stakeholders
Incumbent shall be not more than 35 years with at least 2 years post qualification experience.
