INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS INTERESTED TO PURSUE DOCTORAL RESEARCH AT THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF BIOMEDICAL GENOMICS (NIBMG), KALYANI
ApplicationsareinvitedfromsuitablecandidatestopursuedoctoralresearchatNIBMG.The selectedstudentsareexpectedtoworkonhumandiseaseswithemphasisongaininggenomics and biological insights into disease mechanisms using clinical samples and appropriate models,bothinsilicoandinvivo.NIBMGisequippedwithstate-of-the-arttechnologieswhich include single-cell sequencing and Next Generation Sequencing platforms, high-end computational and bioinformatics facility, cell and molecular biology facilities, genetic engineering including cutting-edge CRISPR-Cas Genome editing laboratories, FACS (cell sorter),lowandhigh-resolutionimagingfacility,MultiplexElisa/ALPHA-LISA,state-of-the-art zebrafish,proteomics,metabolomicsandmicrobiomefacilities.Thebroadareasofresearchon whichstudentsareexpectedtoworkarelistedbelow:

A WALK-IN INTERVIEW WILL BE HELD AT NIBMG
Candidates must report at the NIBMG Main Gate at 9-00 AM.
Eligibility for PhD Interview:
(Monday) from 10-30 AM.
(1) CandidatesshouldhaveavalidawardofJRF(CSIR-UGCJRF/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/DBT-BINC, NBHM,orequivalentexceptDST-Inspire),whoselastdateofvalidityshouldnotbeearlierthan 31st May 2024.Ifcandidateswhoareinthefinalyearoftheirmaster’sdegreeprogramme and areinpossessionofanawardofaJRF,areselected,theywillhavetosubmittheirfinal degree certificateby30thNovember2023atthelatest
(2) Candidates should have Masters (postgraduate) degree or 4 years B. Tech. in any branch of scienceswithinterestinpursuingresearchinModernBiology,havingatleast55%orequivalent GradePointAverage(GPA)(Arelaxationof5%ofmarks,shallbeallowedforSC/ST/OBCand PersonswithDisabilities).
(3) CandidateswhohavequalifiedinGATE/JEST/JGEEBILS/NET(LS)etc.,butwhodonothavea validawardofJRFmentionedin(1)above,orequivalent,are ineligible to apply
(4) No student awarded the ICAR Fellowship will be eligible toparticipate inthe Ph.D. Programme inNIBMG

I. NIBMGPh.D.programisaresidentialfull-timeprogram.Theselectedcandidatesmust stayoncampus.Norelaxationwillbeprovidedunderanycircumstances.
II. Other terms and conditions of the fellowship will be directed by the funding agency awardingthefellowship.NIBMGwillnotberesponsibleforprovidingfellowships.
III. TheupperagelimitforJRFshallbe28yearswhichisrelaxedupto5yearsinthecase ofcandidatesbelongingtoSC/ST/Women/PWDand3yearsincaseofOBCcandidates, orasapplicable.

VII. IflargenumberofcandidatesappearedintheWalk-In,TheInstitutealsoreservesthe righttoconductasecondroundofinterviewtominimizethenumberandnottocallfor the2ndroundofinterview(ifapplicable)thosecandidateswhosescoreinthe1stround ofinterviewfallbelowacertaincut-offdeterminedbytheInstitute
VIII. ThenameofthesuccessfulcandidateswillbedisplayedontheInstitutewebsite.
IX. Eligibility criteria including an upper age limit will be reckoned on the last date of submissionofapplication.
X. Before appearing in the Walk-In interview, the applicants should ensure that they possess at least the essential qualifications and other conditions specified in the advertisement.Ifacandidateisfoundineligible,his/hercandidaturewillbecancelled atanystageoftheinterviewprocess.Itmaybenotedthatevenifacandidatequalified intheinterviewandsubsequentlyitisfoundthathe/shedoesnotfulfilltheeligibility criteria,his/hercandidaturewillbecancelled.
