This call is open for a position of “SiB Innovators (School of Biodesign fellows)” at THSTI to work at partnering institutions for innovation and product development in medical diagnostics.

‘SiB’ has been a very successful flagship program of Department of Biotechnology (DBT) which has led to development of more than 35 medtech products and 20 startups.

‘SiB’ has now been started at Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. This fellowship program is being implemented at THSTI in collaboration with leading institutions in the country viz. Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IITM), Christian Medical College Vellore, PGI-Chandigarh and Venture Centre- Pune. The focus of this program is on medtech innovation for the development of affordable and accessible medical diagnostic technologies.

The goal of the Fellowship is to foster a pool of social and science innovators in the Bio-design arena and to train them to become successful entrepreneurs. The fellows will be exposed to all aspects of the development, validation, commercialization and use of in vitro diagnostics. The fellowship will run for a duration of twelve (12) months. The innovators and entrepreneurs trained via this program are expected to provide niche skills in the domain of in vitro diagnostics and enable India to attain its goal of Atma Nirbar Bharat in the said domain.

The program is looking for millennials with passion for technology innovation and requisite skills for receiving training in clinical immersion, product innovation and entrepreneurship.

Desirable: Candidates with involvement in innovation/ design or social entrepreneurship or social empowerment using science or technology are particularly encouraged to apply.

The ideal candidates demonstrating a strong interest in innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial mindset coupled with a genuine desire to aspire and make a positive impact.

Selection Criteria

The applications received will be screened based on the eligibility criteria mentioned above and content of the “Statement of purpose” (to be uploaded online along with application). The shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview in person at THSTI, Faridabad. The names of shortlisted candidates will be announced on our website. The dates for the interview will be announced later.

Final selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview and the list of selected candidates will be published on the THSTI website.

Appointment will be made on contract for a period of 12 months. During the period of

contract appointment, the fellow will not be allowed to leave the program. In case of a premature resignation, the fellow shall be liable to refund the fellowship amount received till the date of departure from THSTI. These posts will not have any claim for regularization of their employment.

All educational, professional and technical qualification should be from a recognized Board/University.

The experience requirement specified shall be experience acquired after obtaining the minimum educational qualifications required for the post.

Persons working in Govt. / PSUs/ autonomous bodies shall apply through properchannel or produce ‘No Objection Certificate’ at the time of Interview.

The age limit, qualification, experience and other requirements for the post are relaxable at the discretion of the competent authority, in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

Decision of the selection committee regarding selection will be final.

Number of positions filled will be as per need and availability of the suitable candidate.

Number of vacancies may vary depending upon the requirement at the time of interview.

Outstation SC/ST/PWBD candidates called for the interview will be paid to & fro second class railway fare, as per Govt. of India rules on production of the proof of the same.
