maersk and ASN in Mero karoon in neon field

Karoon reported that the Neon-1 (officially 9-NEO-1-SPS) control well, which spudded on 23 January 2023, reached a final total depth of 2,382 meters Measured Depth (MD). Analysis of pressure tests through the Palaeocene section indicates that the oil in this section lies on the same pressure gradient as the oil at Echidna-1, suggesting that the two wells are likely in communication. Based on these preliminary results from Neon-1, Karoon has decided to proceed with drilling Neon-2 (officially 9-NEO-2D-SPS). The forward plan is to plug and abandon Neon-1 and mobilize the rig to the Neon-2 location. Neon2 will be drilled directionally to intersect a crestal location in the north of the Neon field. Neon-1 and Neon-2 are both located within Karoon’s 100% owned S-M-1037 license, approximately 210 kilometres offshore Brazil in the southern Santos basin.

FPSO sails towards buzios

The FPSO Almirante Barroso sailed away from BrasFELS shipyard earlier this week and is now on its way to Buzios field in the Santos Basin pre-salt area. The exploration unit will be connected to ten wells and is able to produce 150,000 barrels of oil and 6 million CuM of gas per day. The FPSO belongs to MODEC, also in charge of the operation of the platform.

Alcatel Submarine Networks (ASN) and Maersk Supply Service (MSS) have been awarded by Petrobras for the supply and installation of a Permanent Reservoir Monitoring (PRM) system on Mero field, located deep offshore in the pre-salt area of the Santos Basin, 180 kilometres off the coast of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. This contract includes the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and operation of the PRM system. The PRM system for the Mero field is based on the Optowave technology developed by ASN Norway. ASN will mobilize its resources and subcontractors in Europe and in Brazil to complete the engineering, manufacturing, installation and commissioning of Mero PRM system. Maersk Supply Service will project, manage, engineer and execute the offshore installation itself, operating out of its office in Brazil in Rio de Janeiro and utilize one of its I-Class subsea support vessels to perform the offshore operation.
