50th Anniversary Gala

On an evening when the phrase “raining cats and dogs” would not suffice--a rainfall record of 1.47” was set at Augusta’s Bush Field--nearly 400 brave souls would not be deterred from attending the 50th Anniversary Gala!

A few ladies wore rain boots with their cocktail attire and slipped into heels at the door, but the atmosphere at Pine Knoll Farms was warm and welcoming as parents, faculty, staff, alumni, board members, and other Westminster supporters came together to celebrate the wonderful things God has done over the first 50 years of Westminster’s story.

Led by Kathy Schafer and Katie Stewart Bazemore, the gala committee created a beautiful evening, with opportunities for reminiscing with old yearbooks and fun at the photo booth. The Windsor jewelry raffle provided a way to support the Westminster Fund, but the focus of the night was fellowship, not fundraising. The Mark Maund Band braved the gale in the tent, providing wonderful music, and the southern soul food themed tapas were a hit. Patty Blanton generously donated the Pine Knoll Farms venue, and it could not have been more perfect.

As Westminster alum and current parent Lindsay Bui reflected, “The Gala was a beautiful event bringing the past and present of Westminster’s influence and far-reaching effects together. It was like two of my worlds collided, with old friends, classmates, teammates, parents, and former teachers in the same room with current parents, faculty, and administration—all of whom share a deep love and desire to see Westminster continue to thrive and impact students’ lives for Christ the way it has for so many years. Not even the soggiest of evenings could keep those in attendance from celebrating such a momentous occasion.”
