Named Scholarship Recipients
Michael J. Cave Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established to honor the life of Michael J. Cave, a former Westminster student who had a radiant smile, loved people well, and was loved and respected by all who knew him. During his life, Michael made friends easily. He was always ready to give a word of encouragement to those around him and his life made a positive impact on those he encountered. Michael’s early home going is a reminder that our lives are but a vapor, and what really matters is knowing that our eternity is secure in the hands of Jesus Christ.

This scholarship is given each year to a Middle or Upper School boy who positively serves and influences his community, setting an example for others. The recipient of this scholarship will be a young man who enjoys life and is industrious and diligent, not afraid to work hard. The recipient is approachable and is sought out by others because they enjoy his company.
The 2024 recipent of the Michael J. Cave Memorial Scholarship is James Kassner, Class of 2024. James is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Kassner.
Matthew Clark Memorial Scholarship
The Matthew Clark Memorial Scholarship was established by the friends and family of Matthew Clark as a way to honor God and remember Matthew, a young man who loved life and also loved the Lord.This scholarship is given each year to a senior who applies himself/herself academically, participates in athletics, and is growing spiritually.
The 2024 recipent of the Matthew Clark Memorial Scholarship is Brianna Baughman, Class of 2024. Brianna is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baughman.


Rosemary Lester Memorial Scholarship
The Rosemary Lester Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the life of Rosemary Lester, a beloved English teacher at Westminster who loved her students well and followed the Lord faithfully. Her friends and family established this scholarship to honor Mrs. Lester’s memory and to bring glory to God.
This scholarship is awarded each year to a rising 8th grade student who loves literature, applies himself/herself in the English classroom, and is sensitive to spiritual issues.
The 2024 recipent of the Rosemary Lester Memorial Scholarship is Sheridan Hudson, Class of 2024. Sheridan is the daughter of of Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Hudson.
Betty Gene Lovingood Scholarship
The Betty Gene Lovingood Scholarship was established in 1989 in honor of Mrs. Lovingood’s many years of teaching at Westminster and to commemorate her love for educating young children both at Westminster and at First Presbyterian Church.
This scholarship is given each year to a kindergarten student who demonstrates a strong Christian witness, academic potential, and general maturity.
The 2024 recipent of the Betty Gene Lovingood Scholarship is Adelaide Jessee, Class of 2036. Adelaide is the daughter of of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jessee.

Elliiott Edgars Hamilton Rivers Memorial Scholarship
The Elliot Edgars Hamilton Rivers Memorial Scholarship was founded by Elliott’s friends and family, and by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cary Rivers. Through this scholarship, the family desires to honor God and to remember the life of their beloved son. Elliott was a boy who loved the Lord and pursued life with vigor. He cultivated his passions of playing soccer, playing the piano, and building deep friendships. This scholarship is given each year to an established Westminster student who applies himself/herself academically, participates in Westminster athletics, and is growing spiritually through active involvement in his/her church.
The 2024 recipent of the Elliiott Edgars Hamilton Rivers Memorial Scholarship is Caleb Franks, Class of 2024. Caleb is the son of Rev. and Mrs. John Franks.



Aquilla Smith and Dr. Richard N. Moss Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship was established to honor the lives of Aquilla Smith, a founding board member of Westminster Schools of Augusta, and Dr. Moss, a caring physician who served our community well.
This scholarship is given each year to a rising junior or senior who demonstrates an interest in science and/or the medical field, and is a great student who has shown a desire to serve and help others.”
The 2024 recipent of the Aquilla Smith and Dr. Richard N. Moss Memorial Scholarship is Lauren Hobbs, Class of 2026. Lauren is the daughter of Dr. Rebecca Hobbs.

Virginia Jarrel Williamson Memorial Scholarship
The Virginia Jarrel Williamson Scholarship was established in 1983 to honor the life and achievements of Ginny Williamson, a former Westminster student who passed away in 1981. Ginny demonstrated great academic talent, and she distinguished herself as an excellent student during her academic career at Westminster. This scholarship is given each year to a Lower School student who demonstrates scholarship, achievement, and Christian citizenship.
The 2024 recipent of the Virginia Jarrel Williamson Memorial Scholarship is Scarlett Kalohi, Class of 2032. Scarlett is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Kalohi.

Frank Yu Scholarship Award
This scholarship was established in 2020 in memory of Frank Yu’s life and achievements. Frank Yu, a graduate of the Class of 2020, demonstrated strong mathematical and analytical skills and became known among his teachers for his love of math, and his kind, caring, reliable, focused, and funny personality. Frank intended to pursue a degree from the University of Rochester in optics, a multidisciplinary study rooted in physics, electrical engineering, chemistry, and materials science.
This scholarship is awarded each year to the three highest achievers in math, physics, and chemistry who are entering their senior year at Westminster.

The 2024 recipents of the Frank Yu Scholarship Award are Blake Peacock, Class of 2025, Abigail Knight, Class of 2024 and Cassie Joiner, Class of 2024.
Blake is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Lamar Peacock. Abigail is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Knight. Cassieis the daughter of Dr. Laura Lee Joiner and Mr. Robert Joiner.
