David Hanks Legacy Scholarship
On a beautiful, warm August morning, hundreds of students, faculty, staff, and well-wishers gathered to officially celebrate Westminster Schools of Augusta’s 50th year. The Opening Convocation ceremony was followed by a small luncheon for current and previous board members, previous heads of school, and faculty and staff who have served Westminster for 20 years or more. These faithful servants have dedicated so much of themselves to discipling students and building the Kingdom through Christ-centered education.
Even in such esteemed company, David Hanks stands out as an eminently faithful leader. Through the years, Hanks has been known to many as a mentor and friend, and he is often affectionately called “Mr. Westminster.” For over 40 years, he has worked tirelessly to advance the causes of the school, raise funds to make provision where needed, and offer a helping hand to countless members of the extended Westminster family. On this day, it was only fitting that the school should honor David Hanks for his four decades of faithful service by unveiling The David Hanks Legacy Scholarship. Created with utmost affection by Westminster’s board of trustees, The David Hanks Legacy Scholarship has been established to ensure that the legacy of Mr. Hanks’ unmatched love and service for Westminster live on in perpetuity.
