Little Becomes Much: How Two Young Men Are Making a Lasting Impact at the Mission WRITTEN BY CARA PAIGE, MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, WRM

Some widespread opinions may suggest young people might not have an appreciation for the heart of charity. At the Westminster Rescue Mission, we know (and are happy to share) a different story. From the young volunteers that commit their time helping to beautify and maintain our campus, to the interns who devote their service hours in administrative tasks, to the recent story of two of our youngest supporters; Chase Tyree, age eight, and Theodore “Bear” Daigle, age six.

When Chase and Bear's Pastor, Rodney Gross, of Lazarus United Church of Christ, drove from Linesboro to Westminster, MD to hand-deliver a letter, donation, and more importantly share the heartfelt story, recalling the generosity of these two young men, we knew we wanted to share this story with you. Knowing our words might fail, we asked Pastor Gross to share this touching account himself. Additionally, we sat down for an exuberant and very informative interview with Chase and Bear ( see the QR codes below ).

I must say, every time I watch the video of these two young men it warms my heart all over again.

Having the pleasure of meeting them both, I'm blown away by their giving-spirits and sensitivity to the needs of others, most of whom they have never met. It's a gentle and sweet reminder that as we serve in the Kingdom of God, He gives the increase (1 Corinthians 3:6-8).

#CaringForCarrollTogether Community Partner Spotlight: Adam Stultz of Digital Consulting, LLC WRITTEN BY CARA PAIGE, MARKETING & COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, WRM

What we observe in our interactions with Adam is that he not only has a passion for non-profits and local businesses; articulating our stories with depth, excitement, and creativity - over and above, his unique expertise for storytelling has helped to elevate a plethora of businesses right here in Carroll County. So we could not pass up the opportunity to highlight his contribution to the Westminster Rescue Mission as well as share some of the amazing things he’s doing about town.

How has your company, Digital Consulting, displayed how it is #CaringForCarrollTogether over the past year?

Over the past few months, Westminster Rescue Mission has been privileged to work with Adam Stultz, owner of Digital Consulting LLC, and his team. Adam produced our incredible organizational overview video (see page four, for our YouTube channel) and we're currently working with him on an upcoming project we can't wait to share with you.

"At the outbreak of the COVID pandemic, my company donated to have masks 3D printed and distributed to the community. We also raised funds to donate 100 pizzas from No Anchovies in Taneytown and 60 meals from Molli's Cafe in Westminster to first care workers at the hospital and nursing homes. I've also donated my time helping non-profits and other small businesses with video production/technology needs."

Without question, Adam is a wonderful partner to WRM.

Rapping the Gospel for Recovery We all appreciate the many ways our pastors and leaders share God's Word. But, have you heard a pastor that can also rap God’s Word? Ours can.

We love how Pastor Floyd Westbrook makes the gospel come alive in such a relatable way through his raps. And our clients enjoy hearing stories from the Bible and biblical truths from our very own “Divine DJ.” Take a listen... then, go and check out his interview on page 4 with one of our newest graduates, Gabe.

CLIENT TESTIMONY GABE

This interview is well worth a listen, as Pastor Floyd Westbrook sits down with our recent graduate, Gabe, on the steps of one of our transitional houses, the "Stonehouse". Together they recount Gabe's "day one" and his journey to recovery. Gabe shares how his time at the Addiction Healing Center has changed his approach to life, his attitude, and given him a new outlook as a father.

"The entire experience has been surreal.

Everything is brand new to me... I've learned that being selfish is no longer an option.

Everything that I do now has to be for her [my daughter]; a better well-being is the most difficult part. I have also learned the process of my child learning new things and me having to aid her through those processes. It [my recovery] has also built a stronger relationship between me and my partner." ~GABE
