MISSION MOMENTS Westminster Rescue Mission
Stephanie M. Halley Executive Director
A New Thing As we experience this season of gratitude, my mind turns to the Thanksgiving table. That place where we gather with loved ones, catch up with one another, and (hopefully) pause to offer our thanks for the many blessings we receive. When the kids at our table get their cheeks pinched by their great aunts and uncles, we hear those familiar exchanges that start with something like: “Oh my, how you’ve grown! I hardly even recognize you!” I remember (just yesterday, wasn’t it?) when my own relatives were saying the same to me. Time does fly… Here at the Mission, we’re hearing the same thing! Time and time again, as volunteers return, and as we’ve opened up to customers little by little, the changes are noticed by those who haven’t been here in the last few months due to the pandemic. They are amazed at the differences – the new women’s program, the transitional housing , the growing staff, the stories of individuals in recovery who have found hope, work, and sobriety.
