Malayan Insurance ensures access to clean water for students in Batangas
In December 2023, Malayan Insurance Philippines, the largest insurance company in the country, held a groundbreaking ceremony for a public school handwashing facility in Batangas. The Malayan Insurance employees were able to raise PHP 200,000 for the project. The ceremony is led by Malayan Insurance Philippines Chief Sales Officer and Senior Vice President Isauro “Jun” Cotoco Jr., Vice President Ramon Navarro Jr., Vice President Michael Dennis Ballesteros, and Senior Assistant Vice President Joel Tabing. “We in Malayan are aware that without good hygiene habits, our beloved students are susceptible to a number of illnesses which negatively affect both their general health and capacity for learning,” Cotoco says. “Without the commitment and enthusiasm of each and everyone of you, none of this will be possible. Together, let us empower students and transform their lives. Keep in mind that we are investing in the students’ future education and health, and not merely
providing handwashing facilities. We are establishing a groundwork for a better future for these students by providing them with resources they require to succeed.” Meanwhile, World Vision Program Manager Don Chua shares, “Kami po sa World Vision ay nagpapasalamat. Panalangin po namin na makatulong po itong facility na ito sa inyo.” Student leader Jennylyn expresses gratitude on behalf of her fellow students. “Maraming salamat po sa pamunuan ng Malayan Insurance, maraming salamat po sa bumubuo ng World Vision. Tunay pong kayo ay napakalaking blessing para sa aming paaralan.” More than 1,500 students will benefit from the handwashing facility that is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. Prior to this donation, Malayan Insurance has also provided school bags to students in Bicol and Agusan del Norte through World Vision.
