Thousands run for children at Robinsons Supermarket’s 15th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run
On July 9, more than 2,600 runners paired up and crossed the Robinsons Supermarket’s 15th Fit and Fun Wellness Buddy Run finish line to raise funds for World Vision’s Child Sponsorship Program.
During the annual event, which aims to promote physical wellness among participants, Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. President and CEO Robina Gokongwei-Pe and Robinsons Supermarket Managing Director Stanley Co also led a ceremonial cheque turnover. World Vision Development Foundation National Director Rommel Fuerte, Resource Director Jun Godornes, and Ambassadors Enzo Pineda

and Zachi Chua received the PHP 700,000 donation on behalf of the organization.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Robinsons Supermarket for their unwavering commitment to improving the lives of the most vulnerable Filipino children,” said World Vision National Director Rommel Fuerte, who also paired up with Resource Development Director Jun Godornes to finish the run’s 10-kilometer race category.
For 14 years, Robinsons Supermarket and World Vision have worked closely together to create opportunities for shoppers and the public to get involved in child-focused advocacy and activities.

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT
Mr.DIY volunteers refurbish classrooms for new school year
In anticipation of the upcoming opening of classes, employees of Mr.DIY volunteer to refurbish classrooms in a World Vision-supported elementary school in Malabon.

As part of the volunteer activity “Do-It-Yourself Brigada Eskwela”, where schools, communities, and partners work together to prepare classrooms for the next school year, Mr.DIY donated cans of paint, paint rollers, brooms, dustpans, mops and Mr.DIY cleaning materials to the elementary school. This initiative aims to support Mr. DIY’s CSR project to refurbish the library of Concepcion Elementary School, which is being utilized for various school activities. Mr.DIY also donated two air conditioner units, steel racks, and a PVC folding door for the school library as well.
In 2022, Mr.DIY partnered with World Vision in a bold effort to widen the company’s social responsibility efforts. Mr.DIY involves the public to support communities through “The Good Bag” Initiative, where they donate a portion of the sales of their reusable eco bags to World Vision and other non-government organizations. “The Good Bag” campaign runs from March to December 2023.
Citi Philippines, the country’s largest foreign bank in terms of asset base, once again hosted its annual tradition of giving back to the community, to commemorate Citi’s Global Community Day (GCD).
Every year, Citi employees across the globe volunteer their time and skills to address the needs of various communities. This year, which marks the 18 th year since this tradition began, more than 3,000 Citi Philippines employees, as well as their friends and family, took part in GCD.



Citi Philippines once again partnered with World Vision Philippines to mentor participants of Project HOPE in Cebu. Funded by Citi Foundation, Project HOPE (Helping OutOf-School-Youths Pave Towards Employment and Engaging in Business), aims to support out-of-school and vulnerable youth by providing entrepreneurial and employable skills training. The mentoring sessions were concluded over three Saturdays in June and was attended by more than 80 Outof-School youths. Citi mentors discussed their own inspiring career journeys and shared tips on how to write a good resume and ace job interviews, among other topics.
Citi Philippines CEO Paul Favila who volunteered as a mentor said, “We are thankful to our community partners for giving us a platform to help prepare Out-of-School Filipino youths looking to join the competitive job market. Global Community Day is an annual tradition that we love and are committed to, as it provides an avenue for us to give back to the communities we operate in.”
Citi volunteers also joined a clean-up drive in the community park of Barangay Bagong Silangan in Quezon City. Barangay Bagong Silangan with a population of more than 100,000, is one of the project sites of PHINLA, a solid waste management project implemented by World Vision in partnership with EcoWaste Coalition and the German Cooperation. Aside from the clean-up, volunteers also donated brooms, dust pans, and industrial gloves. participants’ positive relationships at home.
Citi and World Vision culminated its GCD initiatives with the Adopt-a-School Program at the BASECO Compound. Volunteers cleaned the school grounds and repainted the stage of the Senator Benigno Aquino Elementary School, in preparation for the students’ upcoming graduation ceremony. The clean-up activity benefited over 5,000 public school students.
World Vision corporate partners distribute school kits in Manila and Malabon

Lexus Manila, Traqs, Ova Virtual and eGENTIC Asia Pacific partnered with World Vision to ensure an exciting and memorable back-to-school experience for students in Malabon and Manila.




Aside from donating to World Vision’s Back-to-School Campaign, representatives and volunteers from the companies joined the school kit distributions earlier this month.
Through the campaign, World Vision has donated 1,000 school kits in Malabon and 1,300 school kits in Manila, inspiring children to learn and helping families mange educational costs better. Thousands more have received new school bags and school supplies in other World Vision area programmes in the Philippines.
