Four growth industries

There are four growth industries in Will County. We provide career scholarships for occupations in all four industries, which will be briefly reviewed in the slides to follow.

Why Healthcare?

• In Will County, employment in the healthcare industry is projected to grow 10% through 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations, creating about 3,000 job openings.

Note about Healthcare training

If you would like to attend a program that requires acceptance such as Registered Nurse, you must be accepted into the program and have your acceptance letter prior to beginning the career scholarship process.

Why Professional, Financial and Information Technology?

• In Will County, in-demand professional services jobs are projected to grow 7% through 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations, adding about 1,500 new jobs.

Why Transportation, Distribution and Logistics?

• TDL jobs are projected to grow 31% through 2024, adding approximately 2,100 new jobs every year. In fact, TDL occupations will add more jobs than most other industries

Why Manufacturing?

• The world of high-tech manufacturing is exploding with exciting opportunities for today’s workforce. As jobs in advanced manufacturing gain momentum, manufacturers are looking for highly skilled production workers.

• Many of these jobs go unfilled because the employers can’t find people with the right skills.

To be considered for a career scholarship you must: 12 • Be at least 18 years old • Be a Will County resident or laid off from a Will County employer • Have a high school diploma or GED • Meet WIOA eligibility guidelines • Have never received a WIOA career scholarship before • Obtaining a career scholarship is a ONE time opportunity
for a Career Scholarship 13 There are steps you need to complete before being considered for a career scholarship. A career planner will help you schedule and complete these steps: 1. Testing-Please call 815-727-4444 Press 0 and schedule your Reading and Math test. 2. Eligibility Appointment. 3. Meet with a career planner to discuss your training and to schedule Career Certified. 4. Successfully complete the five-day Career Certified course. 5. Meet with your career planner to begin training.
