FAMILIES AND PARENTING
Raising Sound Sleepers Helping Children Use Their Senses to Rest and Self-Soothe
By Adam BlanningWhat can parents do to avoid bedme meltdowns? Why do established setling rounes stop working? How can children be encouraged to fall asleep more consistently? What simple, natural steps can parents take to help children feel calm? Sleep and rest aren’t always the natural processes we expect them to be. Dr Adam Blanning, child-development consultant and holisc physician, suggests that they are learned skills which grow with children alongside physical developmental stages. In this insighul book he offers praccal ways in which parents and carers can support children to use their senses - from taste, smell and touch, through to balance and movement, to self-soothe, sleep and ulmately build resilience for life. Based on extensive research and using clear examples, Dr Blanning explores a range of methods for children of all ages, from newborns to teenagers, and tackles key parental concerns.

The First Class of the Michael School Recapitulaon Lessons and Mantras (Cw 270)
By Rudolf Steiner, T H MeyerThis volume supplements Rudolf Steiner's First Class Lessons and Mantras: The Michael School Meditave Path in Nineteen Steps (2017). It contains the so-called recapitulaon lessons given in various places, including Dornach, from April 3 to September 20, 1924. While the book does not introduce any new mantras, it offers new forms of presenng and explaining many of them. This supplemental volume presents a real discovery: two recapitulaon lessons given in Breslau, Germany (now Wroclaw, Poland), on June 12 and 13, 1924. The lessons were discovered only recently in the archive of Eugen and Lili Kolisko. The lessons (first published in German by Perseus Basel in 2016) were writen in shorthand and deciphered by Elea Gradenwitz, published here in English for the first me, with the kind permission of Andrew CluniesRoss, grandson of the Koliskos.
Introducon to Steiner Educaon: The Waldorf School
By Francis EdmundsRudolf Steiner's educaonal system is long established and respected on the European connent and is gradually spreading around the world. Its radical principles, based on a view of the human being as composed of body, soul, and spirit, allows for a truly holisc and balanced educaon that nourishes the whole child. The author explains, in a clear and lively style, many aspects of Steiner's educaonal theories, especially the three stages of child development and how the Waldorf curriculum provides a healthy understanding, nurturing, and support for these phases. Edmunds discusses the role of the class teacher, the ''main lesson,'' the four temperaments, atudes toward discipline, compeon, and examinaons. His answers are based on the author's many years of rich and varied experience as an educator of both children and adults.
A Second Classroom
Parent Teacher Relaonships in a Waldorf School
By Torin M. FinserWhat does a healthy, successful school look like? Is it all about measurable outcomes, test scores, and pass/fail grades set by the government? Can learning be quanfied in short-term measurements or does real learning take years to manifest in a career or biography? All seem to agree that a healthy school is also a community and that community depends on the quality of relaonships - chiefly the relaonships among students, teachers, and parents. This book features a comprehensive examinaon of the parent - teacher relaonship in all its dimensions, from parent evenings and conferences to communicaon, conflict, and the life-cycle of parent involvement in their school.

Breathing with the Climate Crisis
By Lin Bautze, Ueli HurterBreathing with the Climate Crisis offers a hopeful narrave about the climate crisis, a new, different perspecve that could unleash the courage to act. Young people and farmers from the East, South, North and West asked at a world biodynamic conference, How can we find our own breath? Do we need more facts? More head? More heart? Feeling? Poetry? They suggest that you begin with your own inquiry process, ask yourself your burning quesons. Think further. Also, think with your head, heart and hands.
The Foundaons and Principles of Biodynamic Preparaons
By Dr Manfred KlettAt the heart of the biodynamic method are the eight preparaons used to enhance the health and vitality of the soil: horn manure, horn silica, yarrow, chamomile, netle, oak bark, dandelion and valerian. In this deeply insighul book, renowned biodynamic expert Manfred Klet explores the principles that underlie the preparaons. He looks in detail at each preparaon, describing their different properes, how their substances are enhanced and transformed through the stages of preparaon, and the effect each preparaon has on the soil and plants. Throughout, Klet advocates a holisc approach, which sees farms and gardens as integrated living organisms with the preparaons playing a key role in improving the quality of the soil and producing healthy plants.

The Story of Geometry
By Julia E. Diggins, Corydon BellFrom the early peoples who marvelled at the geometry of nature - the beehive and bird's nest - to ancient civilisaons who quesoned beauful geometric forms and asked 'why?', the story of geometry spans thousands of years. Using only three simple tools - the string, the straight-edge and the shadow - human beings revealed the basic principles and construcons of elementary geometry. Weaving history and legend, this fascinang book reconstructs the discoveries of mathemacs’ most famous figures. Through illustraons and diagrams, readers are able to follow the reasoning that lead to an ingenious proof of the Pythagorean theorem, an appreciaon of the significance of the Golden Mean in art and architecture, or the construcon of the five regular solids.
Geology and Astronomy
By Charles KovacsThe first part of this book describes the different kinds of rocks, soil and mountains found on our planet, and explores how they came into being. This secon deals with the depths of the earth, and the long ages of me. In contrast, the second part examines the heights of our universe, in the movement of the sun, moon and stars. These bodies give us our sense of day, month and year. Throughout, Kovacs links the phenomena he's describing with human experience, how they affect people in different parts of the world. This is a resource for SteinerWaldorf teachers for Classes 6 and 7 (age 11-13).

The Foundaons of Human Experience
By Rudolf Steiner, Robert LatheThis course on educaon contains some of the most remarkable and significant lectures ever given by Rudolf Steiner. Because these lectures were given to teachers, however, they have suffered the misconcepon that they are useful only to teachers. Any teacher who wants to teach in a way that encompasses the whole child certainly needs a funconal understanding of what Steiner presents here, but these lectures will also greatly benefit parents, psychologists, counsellors, or anyone else involved with child development. In these lectures, Steiner laid out the most important text for studying and understanding the human developmental and psychological basis for Waldorf educaon.
Educaon of the Child And Early Lectures on Educaon
By Rudolf SteinerAs early as 1884, while tutoring a boy with special needs, Steiner began a lifelong interest in applying spiritual knowledge to the praccal aspects of life. Steiner originally published the essay at the core of this book in 1907. It represents his earliest ideas on educaon, in which he lays out the soul spiritual processes of human development, describing the need to understand how the being of a child develops through successive "births," beginning with the physical body's entry into earthly life, and culminang in the emergence of the I-being with adulthood.
The Kingdom of Childhood
Seven Lectures and Answers to Quesons Given in Torquay, August 12-20
By Rudolf Steiner, Christopher BamfordThese seven inmate, aphorisc talks were presented to a small group on Steiner's final visit to England. Because they were given to "pioneers" dedicated to opening a new Waldorf school, these talks are oen considered one of the best introducons to Waldorf educaon. Steiner shows the necessity for teachers to work on themselves first, in order to transform their own inherent gis. He explains the need to use humour to keep their teaching lively and imaginave. Above all, he stresses the tremendous importance of doing everything in the knowledge that children are cizens of both the spiritual and the earthly worlds. And, throughout these lectures, he connually returns to the praccal value of Waldorf educaon.
