Elements of Personality
Discovering Connecons
By Robert F. Bornstein
The fascinang field of personality psychology not only helps us understand human behavior and mental life, but also provides an important lens to understanding ourselves in ways we never did before. In his concise and mely textbook, Personality: Discovering Connections, Dr. Robert F. Bornstein provides a fresh and appealing approach to personality theory and research that embeds personality in the broader intellectual landscape of psychology today.
This book focuses on the four major theorecal approaches to understanding personality: psychodynamic, behavioral, and cognive-behavioral, trait/interpersonal, and humanisc/existenal. The author provides detailed coverage of these four major viewpoints and ignores the extraneous "mini theories" covered in other textbooks. The result is a brief textbook that offers complex material in an accessible, studentfriendly way. Chapters build upon one another, showing how these four perspecves differ alongside various points of convergence. Rich and relevant examples cover contemporary topics such as social media and online self, personality and polics, friendship formaon and maintenance, selfactualizaon, and acvism, and more.

Decolonial Psychology Toward Ancolonial Theories, Research, Training, and Pracce
By Lillian Comas-Diaz PhD, Hector Y. Adames, Nayeli Y. Chavez-Duenas
This book offers an expert synthesis of the scholarly literature on approaches to decolonial psychology, its historical foundaons, educaon and training, and psychological pracce. From its incepon, psychological science and pracce in the United States has been framed predominantly by Eurocentric epistemologies. As a result, oppressed people have internalized the belief that their culture and values are inferior to those of dominant groups. Infusing a decolonial lens into psychology is one way for the field to become more inclusive and relevant to the numerical majority worldwide.
Decolonial Psychology creates space and methods for oppressed and impoverished communies to radically imagine their existence outside of the superimposed borders of coloniality, neoliberalism, racism, and other systems of oppression. It emphasizes how people's subjecvity and connecons to diverse social groups are influenced by history, context, and oppression; how these populaons acvely resist and survive atacks on their humanity; and how knowledge producon is shaped not only by how data is interpreted but also by the quesons asked.

Understanding the Impact of Trauma Idenfying Care and Therapeuc Intervenons
By Pat Frankish
Since its publicaon in 2019, the FAIT has begun to be used more widely to inform a variety of care packages and therapeuc intervenons.
Understanding the Impact of Trauma takes the FAIT as a starng point, exploring the concept of 'emoonal disability' that can follow a traumac event and the usefulness of applying models like the FAIT more broadly to anyone who has experienced trauma.
It will introduce some of the key theories that have informed our understanding of the emoonal development of people with intellectual disabilies, followed by a series of case studies focusing on different individuals and how their emoonal development informed their therapeuc intervenons, including people with intellectual disabilies, people with mental health issues, people living with demena and ausc people.

Trauma-informed care in Intellectual Disability
A self-study guide for health and social care support staff
By Dr. Pat Frankish
Recent studies have idenfied that there is a high incidence and prevalence of trauma amongst people with intellectual disabilies which oen results in arrested emoonal development. Some of this relates to experiences of being restrained or separated from people they know, and some to early traumac events, such as abandonment or neglect. Historically, most of the consequenal emoonal difficules have been labelled as an effect of the disability or more recently, as challenging behaviour. For years psychotherapy has been denied to people with intellectual disabilies who have experienced trauma, on the grounds that they could not benefit from it. While this has proved not to be the case and atempts are being made to redress the balance, individual psychotherapy will always be in short supply. Trauma-informed care in Intellectual Disability will enable support staff to work therapeucally.
Frankish Assessment of the Impact of Trauma in Intellectual Disability (FAIT)
By Dr Pat Frankish
The FAIT is a simple assessment tool that helps staff working with people with intellectual disabilies who have experienced trauma, to determine the level of emoonal development of the distressed individual, thereby allowing for an intervenon to be provided at the right level within an emoonally nurturing environment. Based on a 40minute observaon of the individual, and accompanying gradings, the FAIT tool enables idenficaon of the stage of emoonal development at which the person's development has become arrested. Once this is established, it becomes possible to work out what kind of intervenons will be appropriate to address their emoonal needs. The expectaon is that individuals who follow this manual will be able to effecvely allocate a stage to the person they are assessing and be able to design an appropriate intervenon, following up with a reassessment as the intervenon progresses.

Unlike similar tools, PEEPS is specially developed to screen young children and uses elicitaon techniques and vocabulary words that are appropriate for this populaon. Systemic Integrated Care
By Nancy Ruddy, Susan H. McDaniel
Healthcare that goes beyond biomedical issues, to address our whole biopsychosocial selves, produces beter outcomes for paents and families. Integrang behavioral health into medical sengs requires an understanding of the interplay of mulple systemic layers in American healthcare.
The exisng literature on integraon largely fails to address the "big picture" of integrated services and systems, including operaons, clinical processes, and financial sustainability elements.
This book provides healthcare administrators, consultants, and clinicians with a roadmap to establishing a systemic, paentcentered, family-oriented behavioral health service that is integrated into a healthcare seng.
It summarizes the literature on the impact of integrang behavioral health care into medical sengs, on the role of families in health maintenance and chronic disease management, and on team science and applying family systems theory/relaonal science to the teams that are now essenal to healthcare.
