TEAMS IN ACTION

Business Advocacy Council 2020 is Bringing Exciting Changes!

In an effort to make a bigger impact and provide even more opportunities for The Chamber to advocate on behalf of your business, the Legislative Committee voted to combine the Transportation Education Council and the Business Advocacy Council. The missions of both councils will be carried out under the “Business Advocacy Council” name. No doubt transportation issues will still have a presence in the council as we will present regular speakers and updates about our roads, interstates, airports and alternative transportation to name a few. The Business Advocacy Council will meet the third Friday of every month at 8 a.m. in The Chamber’s Lakeshore Conference Room. The kick-off combined meeting will take place Friday, March 20. The council strives to be an effective voice of business by developing and implementing a legislative agenda, carrying out a “Get Out the Vote” Campaign and hosting advocacy events to inform and encourage business involvement in the community. Questions? Please contact Margo McZeal, director of governmental affairs, at margo.mczeal@woodlandschamber.org. The Business Advocacy Council facilitates discussion and action related to the business perspective on local and state policy issues. The council meets the third Friday of every month at 8 a.m. at The Chamber. All members are welcome. For more information about the Business Advocacy Council, contact Margo McZeal, director of government affairs, at 281-363-8106 or margo.mczeal@woodlandschamber.org.

Known as the hardest working team at The Chamber, chances are you have spoken to one of our Diplomats. They call to welcome new members, call you on your anniversary and always available to meet you at an event to make sure you get connected. If you have attended any of The Chamber’s Business Connection events, you have seen our Diplomats in action. If you are looking to reconnect with The Chamber or you are new to the area and looking to expand your network, our Diplomat Team will help introduce you to all The Chamber has to offer. Please contact Cyndi Alvarado, vice president of membership, at cyndi.alvarado@ woodlandschamber.org. We would be happy to help connect you with a Diplomat, so you may start building relationships!

The Diplomat of the Month David Dewhurst Three times is a charm and we are thrilled to congratulate David Dewhurst with Prosperity Living on earning the honor of being named the Diplomat of the Month for December for the third consecutive month. David has served on the Diplomat Team for the last 14 years and The Chamber graciously awarded David our Volunteer of the Year in 2019 as his dedication is unwavering. If you are looking for ways to get connected, David is one of the first members of our Diplomat Team to step up and educate members on all things Chamber. He is the friendly face greeting you and taking your door prizes at most Chamber events. He is a strong advocate for the Chamber and our community and believes that both go hand in hand. If you see David at any upcoming Chamber Business Connection Events or team meetings, please be sure to congratulate him. Congratulations, David!
