Shaping the Next Generation of Professionals through Partnerships

Education for Tomorrow Alliance (EfTA) is collaborating with businesses across the Houston area that are committed to investing in the future workforce. The Student Internship Program (SIP) connects companies with rising 12th-grade students for short-term internships, offering valuable insights into various professions. Through these internships, students gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of the skills and responsibilities required in a chosen field. EfTA is currently seeking partners to host one or more students for two-week internships during Summer 2025.

Nicole Robinson Gauthier, Executive Director at the Lone Star College Foundation offers her reason for hosting a high school student each summer. “It’s important to build the next generation workforce. School teaches students the technical skills, but real-world internship experience can teach the soft skills that give them an edge for short and long term success.”

Internship hosts are needed in a wide range of fields, including business, engineering, medicine, and more, with a particular need for STEM-related opportunities. Internships can run any two-week period in June or July. To learn more about the program, or to sign up as a host, interested organizations can visit the SIP Mentor Landing Page on the EfTA website at efta-us.org.

Founded in partnership with The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce, Education for Tomorrow Alliance is a nonprofit organization dedicated to cultivating education and community partnerships that advance student success. With innovative programs focused on science, technology and career preparation, EfTA is the portal through which business leaders can access and strengthen local education.

Library and Community Center to be Renamed for Former Chamber President Kevin Brady

Congratulations to former Congressman and former Chamber President Kevin Brady whose name will soon adorn a local library and community center.

Montgomery County Commissioner Ritch Wheeler (Pct. 3) recently announced that the South Montgomery County Library and South County Community Center will be renamed the Kevin Brady Library and Community Center.

In addition to serving in the Texas House of Representatives and in the U.S. House of Representatives, Brady served as one of the earliest leaders of the Chamber.

In 2023, the Montgomery County Commissioners Court, in partnership with Howard Hughes, approved an agreement to transform the South County Library and Community Center into a spacious, state-of-the-art community center designed to enhance voting, community activities, meetings and senior lunch programs.
