Farewell Year 13

We say farewell to our Year 13 boarders and wish them well on their continued journeys.

Our leavers in girls boarding added their fingerprints to the Miller tree to be forever remembered by their Miller family.

Last weekend was leavers’ weekend with prize day, leavers’ Chapel service and the summer ball, enjoyed by many of our boardersbeforetheytravelledhome.

Senior Cricket Tour — Caribbean

Some of our boarders are involved in the senior cricket tour which departed earlier in the week. They are travelling to Barbados and St Lucia for two weeks and have training and matches arranged with localopposition.

Sports Day—Towlson House Victory

Sports day was a glorious celebration of teamworkandpositivity. Our brilliant boarders pupils got fully involved in both participating and cheering onfellowboardersandteammates.

International Summer School

We are looking forward to welcoming more than 30 students from Spain, Italy and China to our first International School SummerCampwhichstartsonFriday. For two weeks, students will experience life as a Grovian and be exposed to British culture as well as enjoying our on-site facilitiesandlocalexcursions.

9 to 14 year olds will undertake a Science Education and Activities Programme. Students will also have the opportunity to mix with our current students in a number of co-curricular camps. The programme will also include the opportunity to explore Yorkshire and develop their knowledge and understanding of the local heritage and culture.

14 to 18 year olds will take part in an International Business and Leadership+ Activities Programme which focuses on developing self-awareness, self-confidence and resilience whilst improving their critical thinking, communication and teamworkskills.

The international relations element of this course examines how our global society influences the way in which people, teams, organisations and countries interact with oneanother.

Alice in Wonderland

The recent sunshine encouraged some of our boarders out for a walk onto Ilkley Moor. They enjoyed exploring the beautiful countryside that surrounds the Grove. They also had a trip to the seaside where

In June, Year 7 and 8 performed Alice in Wonderland outdoors on 'the holy grass' of the Grove quad. An incredible couple of nights with a castof over50students,plus our amazing boarders who helped with themakeup andset,aswellasalittleface painting for younger audience members! The audience were treated to a whirlwind experience meeting the iconic characters

Congratulations to Alfie, Year 12, who has been selected for England U18's Rugby Union squad going to South Africa this summer, and hopes this will be a springboard into thesquadfornext season.

New Sixth Form Study Centre

Building work is well underway for our new, state-of-the-art Sixth Form facility that will support our forward-thinking Pathways Programme.

Cricket

Congratulations to boarders Jaden and Kian who have consistently been amongst the top performers with the bat this season. Jadenhas alsobeen oneof ourtop wickettakerstoo.

Congratulations also to Adam, Year 9, who has had a fantastic season and was presented with the match ball by our Head of Cricket after scoring 100 against QEGS,Wakefield.

National Boarding Week

The new facility will include more seminar rooms, increased space for individual and collaborative working and integrated technologyforlivestreaming.

Elements of the space will have a much more corporate feel – preparing our students for lifeafterWoodhouseGrove.
