Who Are We?
by Keilana Buikoto
Woodford International School
Welcome to The Drum!
We are pleased to bring you Woodford International School’s official first issue of our student newspaper, The Drum!
We have worked hard to provide you with this publication, so please sit back, and enjoy
Currently, there are four students operating The Drum in 2023. We are (right to left) Taffy, Keilana and Tumu, your writers, and Charli, our head editor – we’re all seniors this year! If you have any concerns relating to the Drum, you can email us (linked below) or find us at school – we are happy to help.
This is our first issue (how exciting!) and from here on we will be publishing an issue of the paper every fortnight/every second week, so be sure to check out The Drum for new articles that are for the students, by the students.
As a fun activity, our articles will include puzzles, codes/clues and other activities, so please be sure to check out our future issues for the chance to take part.

What is The Drum?
by Tumuteku Rore + Editor’s note
As mentioned, The Drum is a new project at Woodford this year. It is going to be a newspaper run by us, to provide you, the student body, with all the up to date information and facts about plenty of different topics
It will update everyone on the happenings in and around school, including upcoming events, and topics relating to our wonderful international school This newspaper will report news,
publish the opinions of students about different things at school, and may even run announcements for the student council We hope that you take the time to read the school newspaper to be aware of upcoming events
In order to keep this very student led and student read, we will find topics and issues that interest you and explore these for your own fact finding journey, while still keeping it simple and enjoyable
This newspaper is for you, and so of course, we will be taking suggestions on topics, activities and even ways to improve the overall experience of The Drum in order to make it the best possible publication we can give you You can reach the editor for any queries at charlotte.preece@wis.edu.sb , and our writers for suggestions at tafadzwa machiridza@wis edu sb , tumuteku.rore@wis.edu.sb and keilana buikoto@wis edu sb
Go Green!
by Tafadzwa Machiridza
In support of the BSP (Bank South Pacific) campaign to find ways to reduce the negative impacts we have on our environment and enhance the world we live in; on Friday 3rd of March, we had a clean-up around our school
As much as we don’t like to pick up rubbish, we must remember that our environment is what we make it. Throw a piece of plastic on the ground now, and it can lead to adverse reactions later on. It can contaminate our drinking water, and even destroy the ocean’s ecosystems. So, let us all stop complaining and start taking the initiative to dispose of our litter correctly and make our environment better, not just on Go Green Day, but every day. #Go Green!!
