Reflections from the Coronavirus Crisis by Kim

Star Letter

It was Monday March 16th 2020

Ever since this Covid-19

Time behind the door we had plenty

Only thing to look forward to is canteen

Our work clothes we had to hang up

Mental health is getting worse

coz we are on 23-hour bang up

It’s too much stress for the nurse

No exercise, no association

They came one day and said I got tag

visits please don’t even mention

I couldn’t wait to pack my bag

We get out for half an hour

I walked out that big metal gate

clean your pad and have a shower

feeling light-headed, I felt faint

Sitting all alone in your cell

Now all this stress and anxiety

feeling like you’re going through hell

leaving prison, I don’t think I was ready

In everybody’s face you see misery

But I have done my time, and I am free

Nobody gets to see their family

This lockdown is not going to break me
