Overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway in Wilmington, North Carolina, Trinity Landing offers seniors independing living with a coastal lifestyle. The 516,000 sf community spans two campuses with 184 independent living homes in wood-framed multi-story apartment buildings and two-story villas. The community features resort-like amenities in its “Town Center” including multiple restaurants, a salon/spa, media center, beer garden, concierge services, and a state-of-the-art Wellness Center. Walking paths wind through the courtyards and between the villas, leading to the Town Center and to a boardwalk with waterfront pavilion, dock and slips.

Located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Portside at Grande Dunes is a new campus built in two phases. The new building has several components, allowing a senior to begin in an Independent Living Unit and progress to Assisted Living or Memory Care as his or her needs change over time. The campus is located right across the street from the local hospital, Grand Strand Medical Center, providing quick access to acute care.
Phase 1 included a 125,000 square foot, three-story Assisted Living Building offering 80 units in five floor plans connected to a single-story, 32-unit Memory Care Building in two floor plans. Phase 2 added a four-story, 150,000 square-foot Independent Living Building with 134 units in five different floor plans. Eight single-story, two-bedroom duplex cottages offers 16 Independent Living units in two floor plans, adding 30,522 sf.
The project features an array of amenities and common areas to promote an engaging and active lifestyle for residents. Communal areas include a saltwater outdoor pool, pickle ball court, dog park, children’s playground. Interior amenities include a restuarant, bar, world-class golf simulator, and a luxury salon and spa. Amenities such as the art studio encourage multi-generational activity with inviting and fun activities for residents and their families.

2021 ABC Carolinas Excellence in Construction Merit Award, General Contracting, (Multi-Family $25-$50 Million)
River Tower is a 23-story, 147-unit independent living tower at Harbor’s Edge retirement community in Norfolk, Virginia. The project consists of a 3-story podium that includes a 250-space parking garage, 14 flats, commons area of dining venues and central kitchen, outdoor terrace, multipurpose, living, entertainment, activities rooms, salon spa and support spaces. The healthcare portion of the project is located on the 3rd Floor with 30 Assisted Living units and is connected to the existing facility by an 83’ long bridge.

Additions and renovations to the Lakewood Manor Life Plan Community in Richmond, Virginia included two wood-framed Apartment Buildings, with 3 stories and 10 units each. A new Clubhouse Apartment and Amenities Building features an indoor pool, aerobics center, main kitchen/dining, fitness center, and 44 new apartments. The project added 213,000 square feet to the existing campus, which remained fully operational throughout construction. W. M. Jordan Company provided residents with ongoing construction updates through Town Hall meetings, providing education and information to residents to minimize disruption to their daily lives during construction.

A new, five-story, 123,313 square foot expansion of the Lifespire Culpeper Life Plan Community includes 48 Assisted Living units, 32 Skilled Nursing units, 16 Rehabilitation units, and 32 Memory Care units in a secured environment, dedicated for residents with memory impairment such as Alzheimer’s and dementia. The new building features a dedicated ‘memory support neighborhood’ with secure courtyard, multiple dining venues, a fitness/wellness area for residents, short-term rehab to home neighborhood, a chapel/assembly room, a beauty salon and larger residential apartments for seniors.

Patriots Colony Life Plan Community in Williamsburg, Virginia added three new 5-story “Presidents Pavilion” apartment buildings. Each building has four floors of Assisted Living units with covered parking on the ground floor of each building. In total, the project added 60 new units to the community.
The hybrid homes incorporate a traditional brick-accented exterior to blend seamlessly into Patriots Colony’s Colonial Williamsburg architecture. Three different layouts for the 60 new units feature open floor plans, a master suite with walk-in closets, and patios with covered balcony.

Covenant Woods, a Life Plan Community, is located on a 75-acre campus in Hanover County, Virginia. The expansion included several components. The Independent Living component includes an 260,000 square foot, three-story apartment building with 84 independent living units, a concrete parking garage underneath with 85 spaces, a full-service restaurant with a large adjacent exterior patio of stamped concrete, private dining, and a large commons area with bar. Twenty-two cottages in floor plans ranging from 1,600 to 2,000 square feet also represent Independent Living homes.
A 30,000 square foot community center includes dining space and lounge, a kitchen, a lobby and a cultural arts center. Renovation of the existing commons areas modified dining options including a kitchen expansion, redesign of a current dining room into a cafe/bistro, a formal dining room, and private dining and takeout areas. A multi-purpose room was converted into a new fitness center adjacent to a new aquatics center addition with a spa, as well as an administrative office addition. Site work added a large pond on site for irrigation, walking trails, bridges over the pond, and large site retaining walls.
