WKU community celebrates upcoming year during Topper Fest

The sounds of laughter, live music and fireworks echoed across South Lawn, as former and current Hilltoppers gathered to let loose and have fun before classes begin Monday.

WKU Soccer bounced back following their 2-0 loss to

the Bobcats with a 10-0 win over the University of Rio Grande in Ohio, pressing high, pushing forward and pinning Rio Grande to their own half in a 10-0 win over the Redstorm.

Caboni talks dorms, academic facilities, student success with Herald Editorial Board

WKU doesn’t own its dorms, and the entity that does likely won’t be a part of the university in the future, WKU President Timothy Caboni said on Thursday.

The Student Life Foundation (SLF) has owned and operated dorms on the Hill since it was established in 1999. At the Herald’s semesterly sit-down with Caboni, he said that absorbing SLF into the university is not under consideration.

Hyatt Place hotel opens to residents as Center Hall

Center Hall, previously known as The Hyatt Place Hotel on WKU’s campus offers the pool as one of residents amenities on Thursday, Aug 14, 2025 The pool is open 12pm to 7pm daily with a maximum occupancy 13 individuals. (Hallie Stafford)

Center Hall recently opened to student residents after its conversion from hotel to residence hall.

Hyatt Place on Center Street became Center Hall after the WKU Student Life Foundation (SLF) entered a three-year, $5.4 million, lease with the hotel. Adjustments to the hotel’s interior began over the summer.

Changes coming to campus mail delivery

Housing & Residence Life (HRL) announced on Wednesday that U.S. Postal Service will no longer deliver mail directly to residence halls.

Instead, mail will be delivered to WKU Shipping & Receiving to be sorted and dispersed to individual residence halls according to an HRL statement.
