STUDENT SUPPORT
9.1 DEAN OF STUDENTS The Division of Student Affairs’ main thrust is to assist students to succeed academically by providing the appropriate support to overcome personal and academic problems. A range of out of classroom experiences and activities are offered to develop students holistically in order to cope with and be prepared for the challenges of university life, the world of work and good citizenship. Students are urged to make use of the support and services available.
A specific programme, known as the ‘First Year Experience Programme’ is in place to help all first year students succeed at Wits. The First Year Experience Programme is delivered as a co-curricular programme outside of lectures over several months, to contribute to your positive experience and academic success at Wits. All first year students are encouraged to attend these valuable sessions. 25 25
