Professor Anna Kramvis School of Clinical Medicine
Professor Kramvis is a member of various University committees such as the SEC for both the Department, and the School, as well as the Faculty Board and the “African Centre for Gene Technologies” (ACGT) as a WITS representative. She is also a contributing member of professional societies, such as the European Association for the Study of the Liver; the American Society for Microbiology; the Paediatric Virology Study Group (Athens, Greece) and the Australasian Society for HIV, Viral Hepatitis and Sexual Health Medicine (ASHM).
Professor Kramvis has an NRF rating of B3 (2008) and B2 (2013) with a Web of Science H-index of 35 and Scopus H-index of 36. Her Google Scholar H-index is 42 with a total citation of 7036. In the last 3 years, she has published: 26 peer reviewed publications of which she was the senior author of 7, published in international journals; 18 Case reports/case series, commentary, letters, and review article in ISSN accredited refereed/peer-reviewed journals of which she was the first author of 2 (international journal), senior author for 9 (international journal), other author' for 7 (international journal). She has been an 'other author' for one chapter in a book.
Professor Kravis played an important role in the development and teaching of Molecular and Cell Biology for Computer Scientists as part of the “National Bioinformatics Network: Introduction to Bioinformatics” course, which provide non-biologists with a complete introduction to biological concepts relevant to bio-informatics to enable them to understand these concepts in the context of the remainder of the course.
To date, Professor Kramvis continues with supervision and mentoring of Postgraduate and Postdoctoral Fellows, working towards the completion and submission of at least 10 manuscripts, while assisting with organizing conferences. All the while, pressing forward with her involvement in the advocacy towards elimination of HBV of sub-Saharan Africa.
