Dr Rhemtula joined the Department as a specialist in July 2010. He has exceptional surgical and clinical skills. He has been instrumental in developing the cardiac obstetric unit at CMJAH amongst his other clinical duties. He has several publications from work that was done in this area. He embarked on the fellowship training in Maternal and Fetal Medicine and will write the examination in the 2nd semester 2023. He contributes clinically to the management of cardiac conditions in Southern Gauteng and is in fact an expert. He has also been invited to present at the “Cardiovascular disease in pregnancy” conference.

His involvement with Post Graduate training has been teaching clinical and surgical skills and also regularly lectures. He has supervised 2 MMeds, and an MSc. He has marked 8 MMeds. He contributed to the protocol booklet in Obstetrics.

His commitment and contribution to undergraduate teaching, training and evaluation has been excellent. He has been the co-ordinator and an examiner for IPC. He has been an examiner to the returning NMFC students. He took over as co-ordinator of the GEMP 3 and 4 programs in 2020. He has developed an MCQ exam, changed the format of teaching and examining during COVID. I am really grateful to Haroun for his commitment to all the administration of the program.

It is always amazing how he accomplishes all that he does with a smile and without a complaint.
