OUTDOOR UW is located on the lakefront just off the Terrace and offers a wealth of opportunity to explore your surroundings. Individual and group paddling rentals, camping equipment and the Wisconsin Hoofers clubs are all found here. Morning yoga classes on land or on the water, as well as afternoon classes in Alumni Park, are also a favorite. Open daily from noon-sunset. CARDS AND BOARD GAMES are available at the Terrace Welcome Cart on a first-come, first-served basis. SWIMMING is allowed in designated areas off the Terrace. LAKESHORE PATH follows Lake Mendota west to Picnic Point and is perfect for a stroll or bike ride. B-CYCLE bike rentals are available on Park St.

History CONNECTING PAST AND PRESENT, EMBRACING THE FUTURE First envisioned to serve as an “undergraduate playground,” the Terrace was constructed in 1928 and quickly became a favorite gathering spot for students, parents and alumni alike. A major improvement project recently added 900 feet of new seawall to the Terrace, new dining locations and guest amenities to improve accessibility, sight lines and customer comfort.

Terrace Summer Presented by Wisconsin Union Directorate Wisconsin Union Directorate (WUD) is the student programming and leadership board that organizes, promotes and runs hundreds of recreational, cultural, artistic, fun and engaging events and experiences each year. Your Terrace summer experience is brought to you by WUD’s Music, Film, Art, and Performing Arts committees, along with the six Wisconsin Hoofers clubs.
