Run-a-Mucca entertainment highlight of memorial weekend

The 2024 Run-A-Mucca Motorcycle & Music Festival will once again rock Memorial Weekend.

Friday, “Sierra Roc” will get things started with a string of hits from the ‘80s hard rock hair bands. Crowds will go crazy for favorites from Aerosmith, Van Halen, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Journey, Foreigner, and plenty more.

With Kevin Jones on lead guitar and vocals, Paul Rose on drums and vocals, April Higuera on lead vocals and guitar, and Scott Hudson on bass and vocals, these four will provide a high-energy rockin’ good time. Watch for “Sierra Roc” on the Main Stage Outside at the Winners Inn & Casino.

Times are 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. Sunday.

Friday evening, “Hed P.E.” will take to the stage. With 14 studio albums, one live album and three compilation albums, these eclectic genre-crossing musicians will fuse punk-rock, metal, hip-hop and reggae to bring their own unique sound to the stage. Watch for frontman Jared Gomes and his crew on the Main Stage Outside at the Winners Inn & Casino beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The Christian motorcycle band, “Korner, ston” will play for Run-A-Mucca crowds at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

The group’s fluid sound will start the day right for rockers and rollers and set the stage for more great bands later in the day. Join Denise Beruman and Carol Martin on vocals, Corey Hooper on drums, and founding member Ken Palamar on electric guitar for a refreshing and rich rock experience on the Main Stage Outside at the Winners Inn & Casino.

Saturday and Sunday, two bands will rock

crowds from the Winners East Lot. “Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers,” a ZZ Top Tribute. Run-A-Muccans are in for the ultimate southern rock experience as Cornbread (bass), Tim (guitar) and Randy (drums) serve up ZZ Top’s music with integrity and pride. And by the way, the beards are real! Times are 11:45 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and 12 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Sunday.

“January Baker” will also bring her powerhouse vocals to the Winners East Lot Saturday and Sunday. January is strongly influenced by country artists of the past and present, and her lyrics come straight from the life she lives in rural Nevada, on a small farm with her husband and children.

Her very first self-written song, “Chevy’s In Heaven,” was inspired by the loss of her father at a young age. Songs such as “The Hotel Song,” and “Full Time Job,” are raw and simple stories from her life. Don’t miss this chance to hear this amazing solo artist. Times are 1:45 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday.

Sunday night, “Stitched Up Heart,” will play from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on the Main Stage Outside at the Winners Inn & Casino. The band, which was formed in 2010 in Los Angeles by singer Alecia “Mixi” Demner, has released three full-length albums and three EPs. Count on Demner, James Decker, Merritt Goodwin, and Randy Mathias to close out another fabulous year of Run-A-Mucca.

“Reckless Envy” will play the Winners Inn & Casino Lounge beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.

This Northern Nevada favorite can switch gears as quickly as someone can turn the channel on their satellite radio. They might wow crowds with a heartfelt ballad such as Chris

Stapleton’s version of “Tennessee Whiskey,” or they might upend things with Heart’s “Barracuda.” What about Charlie Daniels’ “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” or the guitar-driven ZZ Top classic “Tush?” Yup, they can do that too. Rest assured, with Bill on vocals and acoustic guitar, Virginia on violin, and Keith on lead guitar and vocals, Reckless Envy will build a new following at Run-A-Mucca.

But this year’s big news is “Drowning

Pool,” who will play for crowds Saturday night from 9 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. during the Burning Bike spectacular on the Main Stage Outside at the Winners Inn & Casino.

Drowning Pool will bring their unmistakable nu-metal sound, raw energy and unapologetic attitude to Run-A-Mucca’s climax. Best known for their breakout single, “Bodies,” members Stevie Benton (bass), CJ Pierce (guitar), Mike Luce (drums) and Ryan McCombs (vocals) will leave their mark.

‘Run-a-Mucca’ poker run, stagger open to general public

Run-A-Mucca participants are invited to play the hand they’re dealt — literally — Memorial Weekend as the Motorcycle & Music Festival returns for its 22nd year to Winnemucca.

Run-A-Mucca 2024 will take place from Friday, May 24, through Sunday, May 26. The festival will draw hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts to Winnemucca for everything from live concerts to the “Burning Bike” exhibition Saturday night.

The weekend’s highlight will be Sunday night’s raffle of a new 2023 Harley-Davidson Heritage, Anniversary Edition motorcycle. Tickets cost $20 each or six for $100; only 2,000 tickets will be sold.

Saturday’s $1000 Poker Run will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. Participants will visit stops around town. The goal is to build the best five-card poker hand; the reward is $1,000 cash.

Sunday’s $400 Poker Stagger will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will also include local stops around town—all with

the object of building the best five-card poker hand. The winner of the best hand will receive $400 cash.

Purchase your 'Run Package'

As part of the three-day event, organizers are inviting local residents to purchase a “Run Package” for the rally in order to participate in the very popular Poker Run and Poker Stagger scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

For just $50, the package includes one $1,000 poker run hand, one $400 poker stagger hand, an official “Run” shirt, an official event pin, one ticket to the event barbecue, and free entry to the bike show, bike games and tattoo contest. Plus, $5 from every run package purchased will be donated to local veterans organizations.

The “Run Package” is available at event check-in, scheduled for 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, May 24, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 25, at the Winnemucca Inn, located at 741 W. Winnemucca Boulevard.
