WINDSOR MATTERS

The Town of Windsor is proud to celebrate National Public Works Week 2025 in partnership with the American Public Works Association (APWA) from May 18 through May 24. This year's theme, "People, Purpose, Presence," honors the dedicated professionals who keep our town running smoothly while making a meaningful impact on residents' lives every day.
From maintaining our roadways to ensuring clean water flows from our taps, public works professionals are essential to the health, safety and quality of life in Windsor. Their work spans wastewater and stormwater treatment, public facilities, fleet maintenance and street operations, all of which help keep our town safe, sustainable and connected.
Celebrate National Public Works Week with us at our annual Touch-ATruck event! This free, family-friendly event is on Thursday, May 22, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Windsor Public Works Facility located at 922 N. 15th St.
Children of all ages and their families are invited to sit behind the big wheel of the town’s heavy equipment, take photos and learn how these vehicles are used by Windsor’s Public Works first responders. Staff will be on hand to answer questions, offer hands-on demonstrations and share how these large machines provide essential services that protect public health and enhance the quality of life in our community.
The event will be sensory-friendly and free of horns, sirens, and flashing lights. Complimentary treats will be provided.

May is Historic Preservation Month, a time to celebrate the places and stories that have shaped our community. Here in Windsor, the Historic Preservation Commission is vital in safeguarding the town's historic structures and past.
Join us in celebrating Historic Preservation Month by attending the Historic Preservation Commission's open house on Friday, May 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Halfway Homestead site located at 355 McNeil Drive. During this event, we are recognizing two new historic properties and will get an exclusive look at the newly restored historic Dickey Farmhouse. Attendees will also enjoy light refreshments as they take a self-guided walking tour through some of the key features of this historic site.
