Welcome to the 2ND ISSUE of the Otter Pride! I hope you all have been enjoying your summer so far and have lots of fun events as well as relaxation ahead. I personally am excited to binge watch my favorite Netflix shows and go camping! With that being said, we are beyond excited for all of you to see what us otter-lions have been up to!
SERVING LIKE NO OTTER,
Welcome to the 2nd issue of our monthly newsletter! So far this term has been so much fun! We hope you're all enjoying your summer as much as we are. Personally, I've been going to summer school and going out on bike rides! We've had so many fun events and we can't wait to see what's next for this term I can't wait to serve along side all of you!
WAITING ON THE OTTER SIDE,
It’s Sophie, your 2023-2024 WKC President, and I’m here to catch you up on what’s been cookin' so far. In celebration of our parental figures, WKC has proudly partnered with Mission Palms Nursing Home for Mother’s and Father’s Day, where we delivered appreciation cards. Despite being pushed back by a COVID-19 outbreak, we did not fail to serve and deliver the cards. Not only that, but raised a total of 268.82 hours with all our events, including our recent beach cleanup and bonfire social, Knotts trip with Together As One in aiding kids with autism, and online service events. To support the Pediatric Trauma Program, we raised $217 through our Tastea fundraiser at WHS, which started rough but ended in a major success! Also, I can't forget how supportive our Kiwanis sponsors are in providing us with these amazing opportunities, so we made sure to celebrate them and show our appreciation as much as we can. Overall, I can’t believe 2 months have passed already, and I can’t wait to serve our community with you all in WKC.

During the beach clean-up, we all raced to pick up trash with our partners to see which pair could gather the most! Sadly, my partner and I lost the competition, but I still enjoyed the opportunity to help clean my community. We also had a LARGE bonfire, which took a while because we needed more materials. Luckily, we succeeded in making a bonfire, and all enjoyed smores together. Overall, the beach cleanup was such a fun bonding experience!
