By the time you are all reading this school is likely back in session, so we are wishing you all a great school year as well! School being back means one thing... KEY CLUB!!!! We hope all of you are ready for more in person events AND meetings! Please make sure to stay updayed through our Instagam to see when these meetings or events will take place! Again, we are beyond excited for what this school year has in store and hope you enjoy this month’s newsletter. As always if you have any questions please feel free to contact any of us!
This August our club held an extremely fun and interactive water balloon social where we played games with water balloons, water cups, and anything we could do with water! With the hot summer weather and us being otters, the chances we had to cool off with these water-based activities made the event all the more fun! The event was super entertaining and I look forward to more season-based events.

At the August Kiwanis Meeting, I had the honor of leading the prayer and words of wisdom as well as connecting with a councilwoman in charge of Community Services for the city of Westminster. There she shared about the upcoming Fall Festival in September and other ways that we can get involved throughout the year. Not only that, but we received a new fundraiser, Adopt-a-Duck, in collaboration with our Kiwanis, and half of the money of the ducks we sell will go back to WKC. Furthermore, we learned about the upcoming Kiwanis Officers Installation, which ourselves and our parents are invited to. Finally, our faculty advisor, Mrs. Teel was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Kiwanis of Greater Westminster, and we presented her the “Advisor of the Month” award we received from D04N.
The July DCM was particularly special where along with our meeting, we also hosted a night market where different schools would be able to sell foods to raise money for PTP. Additionally, we had our DCM with 2 other divisions, pairing up with the Rhinos and Dragons. But the fun didn’t even stop there. Towards the middle of the DCM, we went into groups where we began making blankets from a blanket making it. Although sales were a slow start, every club started to make money and we were all able to have a great time.

Aaaannndddd we’re back!! My name is Cindy Nguyen and I was your Vice President of the 21-22 term! ..Or maybe you might’ve recognized me holding fort throughout quarantine as President & even before that as bulletin editor! Either way, I’ve been involved with Key Club for as long as I remember (I’m practically ancient). I’m currently studying at UCI and living my best life!!
My high school years are tinted in teal: I joined Key Club freshman year and found an unforgettable home that allowed me to grow as both a person and a leader. I am so grateful that I stayed with the club and my wonderful board members throughout the years. I truly believe that this is
a community that encourages camaraderie and passion like no other. If you’re ever feeling lost, look to your fellow otters to guide you right back.
And lastly, just know that wherever you may go, the Key Club energy and vibes will never leave you :P
