Resident means you live within the Wheeling Park District boundaries. In addition, all children enrolled as students in School Districts 21 and 23 are granted resident rates on qualifying non-contractual youth programs. For a complete explanation of these terms, please see page 48.
If you have never used our registration system and want to qualify for resident fees, please stop by the Guest Service Desk at the CRC and show proof of residency status. Valid drivers license, utility bill, copy of lease or mortgage agreement are acceptable forms of proof.

INDOOR POOL GUIDELINES
POOL GENERAL GUIDELINES
Admission to the pool shall be refused to all persons having contagious diseases, infectious conditions such as colds, fever, ringworm, foot infections, skin lesions, diarrhea, vomiting, inflamed eyes, ear discharges, or any other condition which has the appearance of being infectious. Persons with excessive sunburn, abrasions that have not healed, adhesive tape, rubber bandages or bandages of any kind also shall be refused admittance.
• A person under the influence of alcohol or drugs exhibiting erratic behavior is not permitted in the pool area.
• Pool water is not suitable for drinking. Avoid swallowing pool water.
• Littering is prohibited. No food, gum, beverages or glass bottles are permitted in the pool area.
• Spitting of any kind is prohibited. Spouting water, blowing the nose or otherwise introducing contaminants into the pool is not permitted.
• All persons are encouraged to take a shower before entering the pool area.
• Personal conduct within the pool facility must be such that the safety of self and others is not jeopardized.
• No running, diving, pushing, wrestling or horseplay is allowed.
• Only clean footwear is permitted. Baby strollers and wheelchairs are allowed.
• Glass, soap or other materials that may cause hazardous conditions or interfere with efficient pool operation are not permitted in the pool or on the pool deck.
• Only clean swimsuit apparel is allowed in the pool. Street clothes are not allowed.
• Anyone who is not toilet-trained must wear appropriate undergarments made for water use.
• Diving in water less than five feet deep is not permitted.
• Cell phones, cameras or video equipment are not permitted in the locker rooms.
• When no lifeguard is on duty, swim at your own risk. We do not recommend that you swim alone.
• Lifeguards are provided during open swim and swim lessons to enforce safety rules for everyone’s protection and to respond to emergencies. Please respect the lifeguard’s directions for your safety and that of others.
• Parents or guardians must supervise their children at all times.
• Children age 17 and younger may use the lap pool only during open swim times.
• Please keep our pool areas clean:
• Return kickboards, buoys and other swim related devices to their place when finished.
• Discard used towels in designated towel bins.
• Facility will play music at an acceptable volume during all operating hours. Guests may ask to either lower or slightly raise it. Music will not be turned off unless an emergency calls for it.
• Pool management has the authority to implement and enforce rules that are more stringent or that supplement those listed here.
SWIM LESSONS FAQ
Ratio of students is 1:4 (Levels 1–2), 1:6 (Levels 3-6), and 1:8 (Levels 7-8). Instructors work very hard to give students equal attention.
Swim Lesson Late Fee:
A $10 late fee will be assessed for any registrations received after the registration deadline of 7 days prior to the start of the session. Late registrations are non-refundable.
Swim Lesson Withdrawal Fee:
A $5 withdrawal fee per enrollment will be assessed on any approved withdrawals. The fee will be deducted from any applicable refund.
Swim Lesson Refund Policy:
All refunds need to be requested no later than 7 days prior to the start of the session. With a few exceptions (such as long-term illness or injury with a dated doctor's note) refunds will not be provided after the deadline. Refunds are not provided for the value of one lesson if you miss or don't show up for a day in a session.
Swim Lesson Transfer Policy::
If your schedule changes after you register and you'd like to transfer from one class code to another please submit a transfer request no later than 7 days prior to the start of the session. If there are openings in another day/time for the same class format, a transfer can be processed.
Swim Lesson Waitlist Policy:
Waitlist placements are reserved for swimmers not currently enrolled in a class for the session. Each swimmer may be waitlisted for 1 class per session
Swim Lesson Make Up Policy:
There are no make-ups for missed classes. Sessions typically run back to back. Make-ups cannot be done on a different day, or time than what you signed up for as each class has a maximum capacity aligned with the number of instructors pre-scheduled. Refunds are not provided for the value of one lesson if you miss or don't show up for a day in a session.

Does my Indoor Pool Membership include AquaFit Classes?
An Indoor Pool Membership does not include AquaFit Classes. Indoor Pool Memberships include Adult Lap Swim and Open Swim. Swim Lessons and Aqua fit classes are an additional fee. Health & Fitness Center Memberships include the Indoor Pool AND all Group Fitness classes including Aqua fit.
Can I bring outside food or beverages to the pool?
Outside food or drink is not permitted at the Indoor Pool.
Are there certified lifeguards at all times?
The Wheeling Park District Indoor Pool is supervised by lifeguards during Open Swim, Swim Lessons, and AquaFit All lifeguards are licensed through the International Lifeguard Training Program by Jeff Ellis and Associates. Adult Lap Swim is not guarded by Lifeguards. Swim at your own risk.
Are non-swimmers required to pay to come to the pool?
Only guests intending to swim must pay the daily fee or show their membership card. Please NOTE: Parents/guardians must be responsible for supervising their children. If your children are in the water, then you are in the water. Lifeguards are on duty to enforce rules and respond in emergency situations.
How tall do you have to be to go down the waterslide?
There is no height requirement.
Can I drop my child off to swim at the Indoor Pool?
Parents/guardians must be responsible for supervising their children. If your children are in the water, then you are in the water. Lifeguards are on duty to only enforce rules and respond in emergency situations. Children 9 and under must be accompanied by a chaperon 16 years or older.
Can I bring a noodle, inflatable tube, or my own lifejacket and floaties?
• Swimming accessories such as beach balls, diving rings, and other such items will be allowed in designated areas at the discretion of the manager. Examples of toys that are not allowed include noodles, rafts, tennis balls, Frisbees, water canons/ guns, or any other hard toys.
• U.S. Coast Guard approved personal flotation devices (PFDs) are allowed. Water wings and other non-Coast Guard approved PFDs are prohibited. Children wearing PFDs must remain within arm’s length of their guardian.
• Life jackets are available in the Lifeguard Office to sign out.
