Remembering Marion: On Sept 7, a group of fine ladies gathered to enjoy good food and to share wonderful memories of Marion Brook.

Marion will be remembered for her amazing life. She was very resilient, fiercely independent, and a generous hostess.

She loved quilting and gardening and enjoyed carpet bowling after Wednesday’s ladies lunch. She loved her cup-a, and sweets. She was kind and colourful. She was always a lady even in her gum boots.

PAUL LUCAS, Guitarist/Composer has four albums to his credit and is featured on many recordings both in the U.S and Canada. He has played with artists ranging from Albert Collins and Bo Diddley to Ben Tucker and Marcus Printup.

KERRY GALLOWAY’s work encompasses roles from bassist to producer to composer/arranger.

Stylistically his experience ranges from jazz (Altered Laws) to rap (Sweatshop Union), pop/opera (The Tenors), jazz fusion (The New Noakes Quartet, Crash), country (k.d. lang), variety (Bob Hope, Leon Bibb, Pat Boone, “pops” with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra), klezmer (Olam), “Buddha Bar” style lounge/chillout (Astrid), latin (World Music Award winner Gabriel Palatchi Trio, the Fito Garcia Bass Ensemble), Balkan/Flamenco (Tambura Rasa, featuring the Black Dog String Quartet) funk, R&B, reggae, Brazilian, musical theatre and more.

“Autumn”

By Jeff Salmon People were happy to be out for a stroll by the bay on this crisp Autumn day.

Often they would smile and nod a greeting to each other.

The sunshine gave a fresh new look to everything in sight while the sun, in all its glory, kept them company with a warmth like a mother would give to her cherished newborn.

Later that morning, without warning, a fog eased in from the sea and silently glided across the bay directly towards the strollers.

Along the way it gathered more moisture and gradually was able to envelop them in a fog as dense as a mystery. At that point, the sun became barely visible from view and some of its warmth had vanished.

Amazingly, people kept their good cheer as they now would share another wondrous Autumn experience.
