The Atlin Whisper “Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world. Margaret Mead
Discover Atlin For those of you who knew Bob Couchman, you may be pleased to hear this story: When Bob was working in Toronto with younger social workers, he discovered that very few had ever been camping. That October, they all got in Bob's vehicle, strapped the canoe on the roof and took off to spend the weekend in Algonquin Park. The trip was a success. The next year, they repeated it. And they have repeated it every year since. This year was the 48th year!! They call it The Glenfiddich Rock Trip for obvious reasons. Bob passed in 2008. It amazes me that at least two of the men, Colin Hamilton and Allan Valillee were there this year, as they have been every year, and that they were on the original trip! Now, they bring their sons. Bob's sons, Michael and Stephen, and one of Stephen's sons, attended this year. Hey, you three boys, your Dad/Grandpa has left you a wonderful legacy. That's Bob's canoe in the foreground. Stephen stewards it. Michael is wearing the Filson hat at the right; his brother Stephen, is at front left. CM Carolyn Moore discoveratlin@gmail.com and www.discoveratlin.com Facebook: Discover Atlin
