Bonita Nowell, SCMP Vice President, Education Supply Chain Management Association, Northwest Territories bnowell@auroracollege.nt.ca www.scmanwt.ca T: 867-920-3039 Bonita Nowell is a 6th generation northerner, and an acknowledged northern expert on public procurement with a specialization in procurement governance and education.

Bonita has been in the field of Procurement and Supply Chain Management (SCM) for the last thirty-four years in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.

She holds a Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation, a master’s level in the profession. She was the first person in the Northwest Territories to obtain the credential, in this field.

Bonita has been advancing her professional field through advocacy and promotion, and held numerous leadership roles over the last 25 years with the Supply Chain Management Association (SCMA), at Territorial and National levels and through her former collaborative contributions on the Canadian Public Procurement Council; Provincial-Territorial Advisory Committee to the Standards Council of Canada; the Government of Canada’s Procurement Negotiating Table for the Agreement on Internal Trade; and through her work with the Government of the NWT and the NWT Business Community.

In addition to her role as Vice President, Education for the NWT Institute, she is a member of the SCMA National Education Working Group.

Bonita also holds Executive Leadership Certification from the University of Alberta, School of Business and Leadership Certification from Vancouver Community College.

For the Canadian Chamber, 2014 was another successful year. We worked hard on your behalf advocating for measures to restore Canada’s competitiveness to ensure businesses, like yours, can prosper, compete and succeed. We are proud of our achievements in 2014 and have highlighted them for you in our Annual Report, which I invite you to read.

We invite you to join us to a end a breakfast presenta on to hear more about a new program designed to support Yukon businesses, non proďŹ t organiza ons and government departments in accessing a pool of stable, reliable and dedicated workers that you may not have considered.

People who have a disability represent one of the largest sources of untapped labour in today’s economy, and yet many people who have a disability remain either underemployed or unemployed. We are told that some Yukon employers and businesses are not aware of this pool of poten al workers. Those who are aware may be uncertain about how to recruit, train or accommodate workers with a disability, and some employers are interested but have concerns about issues of costs or whether people have the skills necessary to perform jobs that are available.

Yukon Quest International December 5, 2014

Want to be at the center of the action at the Start Line and get to know your favorite musher?!?

The Quest Guest Program (formerly known as the "Starter Program") is a unique way for Yukon Quest fans to get a behind the scenes perspective of the race.

Winning bidders get the opportunity to join "their" Yukon Quest musher for an experience of a lifetime at the start line of the Yukon Quest on Saturday February 7th, 2015 in Whitehorse, YT! They receive a special access pass to the staging area and ride in a "tag sled" with the musher and dog team for the first ~1.5 miles of the race.

In addition, winners will be able to sit down for lunch with their musher on Thursday February 5th before the race starts. Each Quest Guest also receives a signed poster and a picture taken with their musher.

This year individuals can bid on their favorite musher on the new online auction website!

(Auction closes January 16, 2015 at 1:00pm PST)

Individual mushers may also choose to add additional "perks" to their online auction at any time! So make sure to visit often and see what unique items or experiences are included in each mushers Quest Guest experience!

Net proceeds of this program will be added to the race purse and directly benefit the mushers. So don't be shy! Bid, tell your friends, and get ready for an experience of a lifetime!

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT WINTER ACTIVE LIVING GUIDE AND PROGRAM REGISTRATION Whitehorse – The City has released the 2015 Winter Active Living Guide.

With hundreds of programs to choose from, the new guide offers something for everyone. Whitehorse residents should check out the aquatics and wellness programs, as well as programs for preschoolers, children, youth, adults and seniors.

The guide also features information about Recreation and Facility Services such as facility rentals, outdoor skating rinks, recreation grants and special events.

View the Active Living Guide online, or pick up a copy at the Canada Games Centre or City Hall.

Program registration begins on Monday, December 15 at 4:30pm. Registration takes place online or in person at the Canada Games Centre. Online registration is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with no convenience fees. An online account is needed, so contact the City if you need assistance with your Login ID or Password.

Meatless Mondays You don't have to be a vegan or vegetarian to eat less meat.

Meatless Mondays are becoming popular for many reasons.

•

It's a sustainable way of feeding the world because producing plant protein requires less energy and water than animal protein.

• It's an opportunity to try out different sources of protein, some of which (e.g. beans, eggs) are less expensive than meat.

• It's a great way of cutting back on red meat. Some cuts of meat are high in saturated fats, and it's a good idea to limit how often we eat them.

Have breakfast for dinner (minus the bacon!), a tofu and veggie stir fry, a bean soup ... there are lots of possibilities.

Why Mondays? No particular reason, but it's easy to remember and it's a great way to start the week.
