The U.S. solar market continues to experience unprecedented growth. According to the 2024 Solar Market Insight Year in Review from SEIA and Wood Mackenzie, solar PV accounted for 66% of all new electricity-generating capacity added to the U.S. grid in 2024, up from 45% in 2022. The industry installed nearly 50 GWdc of new capacity, marking a 21% increase over 2023 and the second consecutive year of record-breaking growth.
This momentum is fueled in part by the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), which has catalyzed over $100 billion in private-sector investments and is projected to drive 48% more solar deployment over the next decade compared to a noIRA scenario. Domestic solar manufacturing has also surged, with U.S. module production capacity tripling in 2024 alone.
Energy storage is rapidly scaling alongside solar. In 2024, the U.S. deployed 12.3 GW / 37.1 GWh of energy storage, a 33% increase over 2023. Residential storage grew by 57%, and utility-scale storage is expected to reach 13.3 GW in 2025, supporting grid reliability and renewable integration.
At Wesco, we recognize the scale and significance of this transformation. To support our customers and the evolving solar landscape, we’ve established a Solar Center of Excellence (COE)—a centralized hub of seasoned experts offering technical, operational, and strategic support across the full project lifecycle. Our COE is equipped to support residential, commercial/industrial, and utility-scale projects, ensuring seamless execution and long-term success.
WESCO participates in the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) at the national level, as well as in the Hawaii, California, Colorado, Oregon, Utah, Florida, MDV (Maryland, Delaware, Virginia) and Nevada chapters.

Medium voltage switchgear
250–1000 kW power, up to 3MWh stored energy. Versatile energy storage for commercial and industrial applications.
The demand for power, and variation in the demand, continues to increase due to end-user loads and electrification, including the proliferation of new machinery, DC charging and AI-based chips. Battery energy storage systems (BESSs) play an important part in creating a compelling next-generation electrical infrastructure that encompasses microgrids, distributed energy resources (DERs), DC fast charging, Buildings as a Grid and backup power free of fossil fuels for buildings and data centers. A BESS can store and supplement power needs to keep utility loads relatively uniform based on utility supply and end-user demand. The xStorage BESS optimizes energy usage and enables energy transition with support for energy storage, EV integration and grid modernization. The ability to avoid peak usage rates from utilities helps reduce energy costs for businesses, government and military agencies, schools, industrial plants and healthcare facilities. If utility power is interrupted, the BESS can provide environmentally friendly backup to reduce dependence on generators.
Versatile energy storage
• xStorage BESS holds 250 to 1000 kWh of usable stored energy (279 to 1117 kWh of installed energy)
• The BESS includes a control cabinet with auxiliary transformer, a power conversion system (PCS) and up to three battery cabinets (with six or eight battery modules in each cabinet)
Flexible installation
• Modular installation maximizes available space (control cabinet, PCS and battery cabinets can be individually placed)
• Enclosures mount directly onto an outdoor concrete pad without the need for an additional container and air conditioning
Liquid-cooled PCS and battery cabinets
• PCS and battery cabinets have self-contained liquid cooling to deliver more precise temperature regulation than an air-cooled BESS
• Lithium iron phosphate batteries are maintained within two to three degrees Celsius of their ideal operating temperature for minimal maintenance and improved reliability and uptime
Energy functions
Energy optimization
• Peak shaving — During times of peak demand, stored energy can be used to help avoid penalties from the utility
• Time-of-use optimization — Energy consumption is shifted to avoid peak usage and optimize battery charge/discharge times. During the day, stored energy is used to offset peak demand, saving money on utility fees. Batteries charge at night when demand is lower and utility power is less expensive
Uninterrupted operation
• Backup power — Enables islanding capability to protect against downtime due to utility outages
• Solar self-consumption — Allows efficient use of on-site generation sources, like solar panels, and storage of the excess energy for later use
Grid stabilization
• Demand response — If the utility company requests a reduction in power use, stored energy can replace utility power to avoid penalties
• Aggregation services — The BESS can be aggregated with other distributed energy resources and managed by a higher-level site controller to optimize energy usage and gain financial benefits from participating in energy markets
Specialized management features maximize system uptime
• Embedded Global Stored Energy Controls (GSEC) hardware provides mission-critical accuracy to optimize energy usage
• Eaton’s Brightlayer software suite enables remote monitoring and management
• The xStorage BESS is optimized for predictive 24x7 monitoring and management service to proactively identify component risks, reduce downtime and expedite critical alarm response

Stainless steel lag screws are heavy-duty fasteners used to connect heavy lumber or other materials that bear a strenuous load. They are manufactured from 304 stainless steel and can be used with lag shields in a variety of masonry applications, such as concrete, brick and mortar. Stainless steel lag screws can also be used where standard wood screws are too short or small. In some applications, a pilot hole may be pre-drilled to prevent splitting or snapping.
• Gimlet point
• Heavy-duty 304 stainless steel

Concrete screws are tempered masonry screws designed for long-lasting performance and superior-holding strength. Due to their unique thread design, they are the ideal fastening solution for light to medium duty applications in concrete, brick, masonry block and wood base materials. They are manufactured with a gimlet point that taps its own threads while drilling into the base material. Common applications for this fastener include the attachment of electrical boxes, light fixtures and masonry base materials.

Theft-deterrent composite cables (TDCC) are conductors that function as copper conductors, but incorporate an outer steel layer and are difficult to cut and steal. These conductors are ideal for exposed electrical grounding leads where copper theft may occur. Theft-deterrent conductors are difficult to cut with hand tools and the outer steel stranding is magnetic, which further deters thieves looking for copper.
nVent surge protective devices work together to create a coordinated defense. Safeguard your technology from impulses generated internally and externally with systems designed to provide primary and secondary protection at distribution panels and the point of use.
