As we finally reached Step 4 of the Covid recovery roadmap, many of us had mixed emotions: immense gratitude that the vaccination programme has created a wall of defence that dramatically weakens the link between contracting the virus and severe illness, yet concern that infections are rising and large numbers of people are being required to self-isolate. The stark truth is that Covid-19 is still very much with us, and we all need to play our part as individuals to reduce its impact on our families, friends, neighbours and colleagues.
