The Internship Package

• Internships start in either August or January and last for 3 months.
• Accommodation will be provided free of charge by the host school.
• The package includes return flights to the UK.
• Medical insurance will be at the same level as teachers in the host school.
• Lunch is provided free of charge each weekday.
• A bursary will be provided by TWC to cover your basic living costs and travel.
• You will be expected to pay for your own visas but will be helped in the process and an invitation letter will be sent to you by the host school.

Application Process
September–December
During the Michaelmas term of Upper Sixth, you will attend a presentation explaining the Internship programme. This includes a video featuring previous Interns, detailing their activities and sharing their reasons for applying. You are then required to write a letter of application stating why you wish to participate in the Internship. If you plan to take a gap year, include your plans for the rest of the year. Be sure to mention any relevant experience, such as working with children, coaching sports, creative or artistic abilities, IT skills, or positions of responsibility held at College.
January
Submit your application by Monday 5th January deadline. Wellington College International will review all submissions and create a shortlist of candidates for interview.
February
Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed both in the UK and online via Teams with staff from Wellington College International schools.
March
Successful applicants will be notified and offered internship places. Once you have been offered a position, you must accept in writing and your details will be passed to the school.
May–June
The HR departments of the host schools will contact successful candidates, providing an invitation letter and advice on travel and applying for a visa if needed for India, China or Thailand.

An Outstanding Learning Environment

Wellington College International Bangkok, which opened in August 2018, is a leading co-educational day school serving students aged 2 to 18 years. It currently offers education from Pre-Nursery through Year 12 with the IGCSE curriculum and ‘A’ Level programme. The school opened its first Sixth Form in August 2024, and classes are held in the modern Skylight building. When do Internships take place?
Internships start in either August or January and last for 3 months. Specify in your application which dates you are available.
What would my day look like?
It could be:
• Acting as a teaching assistant in either the senior or junior school.
• Assisting in coaching on of the many sports or activities on offer.
• Working with databases in the administrative office
• Producing school magazines, videos and displays
• Setup and run assemblies
• Support the many school trips within and outside of the country
Will I be paid?
These are unpaid internships, but you will receive a bursary of up to £3k to cover:
• Visa
• Travel
• Food
• Additional living costs
Will I need to arrange medical insurance?
You will be covered by the College’s medical insurance, which includes the same level of care that full-time members of staff receive so no private medical insurance will be needed.
Where will I live?
Depending on which school you are attached to, you may live either in the boarding houses or apartments close to the school.
Can I apply to a particular school?
You should apply for an internship with Wellington College International. Your skills and each school’s needs will be matched so that a best fit can be found. Clearly if you have a particular skill set or are fluent in another language you might be best in one particular setting.
Who organises my flights?
Each school has a main contact person (often a teacher at the school) and also a human resources (HR) department that will help with logistics and flights. Either the school will book them for you on the agreed dates or you will be reimbursed by the school. It is important that you speak with the HR department in the school.
Who organises my visa?
You will be provided with a letter of invitation and guidance on how to apply for a tourist visa. It is your responsibility to make an appointment with the Embassy and fill in the paperwork. This should be done up to two months before you travel.
During the holidays will I be able to go travelling?
Yes. In the past interns have travelled to Korea, Japan or Hong Kong during the school holidays or have been invited on some of the school trips that take place in the holidays.
