To our brothers, the children of Klal Yisroel in all the diaspora, Rabbi Pesach Lerner, who is known for many years for his work for the kedusha of Eretz Yisroel and the protection of the mesorah of Klal Yisroel in many areas, and especially regarding the holiness of the Kosel against those who seek to desecrate it, and has already done much in this in past years, has come before me. He described to me about the activity of the 'Eretz HaKodesh' movement that was established by him, whose sole purpose is to continue and act further for these important matters, and it officially represents the voice of the Jews of the diaspora from the Torah communities who seek to add to the kedusha of the land, and to increase Torah and tefila and to strengthen the voice of Torah that echoes between the walls of the Batei Medrash in Eretz Yisroel. And against those who seek to represent the Jews of the diaspora by the Reform and liberal movements only, who seek to uproot the values of Torah and the mesorah of Klal Yisroel. And certainly it is a great thing to support and vote for Eretz HaKodesh and thereby become a partner in their blessed work. And all who join and act to strengthen their work will merit to see the face of our Moshiach Tzidkeinu speedily in our days and in the blessing of all good things.

"To my dear friends in the USA, In the upcoming elections, I give my full support and encouragement to Eretz HaKodesh. I know these people, and I follow their activities that create tremendous influence on the future of Yiddishkeit in Eretz Yisroel. Therefore, I ask everyone who can, to vote for Eretz HaKodesh and assist them in bringing kedusha to Eretz Yisroel. NINE A.M. IS A COMPLETELY FICTIONAL STORY WHICH TAKES PLACE FIFTY YEARS AFTER THE HOLOCAUST. ESTHER RAPAPORT
RECAP OF CHAPTER 67: Binyamin and David talk, and David tells him how he’s felt for a while now that there’s a big secret that the Wangels are keeping from them. He feels that the Der Cosmos newspaper is one big fake. Binyamin tries to call Hanter early in the morning, when the Wangels are still sleeping, but there’s no dial tone. David explains that perhaps it’s because the cordless phone is too far from the base, which is at the manor house. Binyamin decides to try making the call from the woods instead.
CHAPTER SIXTY EIGHT
H-A-N-T-E-R
Binyamin’s finger etched the letters deep into the ground. After a minute, he shook himself, rubbed the letters with the palm of his hand until there was no trace of the incriminating word, and pressed the top button on the device. A long, monotonous tone came through the earpiece, and he pressed the buttons of the numbers that he remembered by heart. Then he pressed the phone to his right ear. Hashem, sefasai tiftach...
The tone became intermittent. On and off. But no one answered. Should he try again later?
By then, the Wangels might be awake already.
“Is it possible that the phone in the office is ringing?” Bentzy, passing by the locked door with his tallis bag, tilted his head toward the sound.
“Maybe,” his father said. “Yes. That’s the phone.”
“Who is calling at this hour? The workday hasn’t started yet.”
“Your wife?” his father suggested with a crease in his forehead.
“Do you think something could have happened to the children, chas v’shalom?”
“Chas v’shalom,” Bentzy replied automatically, rattling through the keys in his ring to find the one that opened the door.
The phone kept ringing, over and over, and Betnzy felt himself tensing. Had something really happened? Dena knew he davened at the factory with the new workers, and she also knew what time davening ended. But until now, she had never called him. Especially as she knew that most of his early morning hours were spent with his father on the production and packing floors, not in the office.

He rushed into the office and grabbed the receiver. “Hello?”
“Good morning,” said a voice.
Bentzy took a deep breath. Baruch Hashem, it wasn’t Dena.
“Am am I speaking to Hanter?”
“Yes.”
“I spoke with someone who spoke to you a while back, and he didn’t understand what you told them. I would like to clarify something.”
Bentzy sat down. “Regarding a product of ours? Are you one of our clients?”
“No, no.”
“What is this about, then?”
Binyamin breathed heavily. “If you could give me few minutes, I hope I’ll be able to explain myself. Is now a good time?”
Bentzy’s eyes narrowed. “I suppose so.”
“About two months ago, we saw the packaging of one of your products, and there was a sentence there that we did not understand.”
“A sentence? Which one?” Bentzy looked toward the door of the office as his father walked in, looking worried.
“Is everything okay?” Mr. Hanter senior whispered.
Bentzy nodded and turned his attention back to the phone. The caller’s German dialect was a bit unusual, and his accent was quite odd. “Which sentence do you mean?”
His father sat down on the other chair in the room, gazing at him curiously.
“I mean...the sentence about needing to check the products from insects. Um aside for hygiene um, does that mean that you have a connection with Jews?”
Bentzy looked at his father, and then activated the recording feature on the phone. It seemed that the unclear conversation that the caller was referring to
was the one between the strange journalist and Dena. That woman had also asked a lot about the company’s connection to Jews. While it wasn’t clear if these were anti-Semites or just genuinely strange people, recording the conversation certainly seemed to be a sensible move.
“Sir,” he replied coldly, “we don’t conceal the fact that our company is owned by Jews.”
Owned. By. Jews.
Just like that!
“Do you mean to say that you are Jewish?”
“Of course.” Bentzy was happy this conversation was being recorded. “And let me be clear: Our products are on a standard that far supersedes all regulations. And since they meet all of our religious obligations, too,” and also since Dena had been so insistent, “we decided to add that sentence on the package. It was not meant to disturb or offend anyone.”
Binyamin, sitting at the foot of the trees, raised his eyes to the green canopy. The sun was shining through, making him squint. “I’m afraid you didn’t understand me,” he whispered. “Chas v’shalom, I have no problem with that sentence, especially since I’m also Jewish.” He was quiet. What would be the reaction on the other end?
No one fainted, neither in repulsion nor in excitement. “Nu, very good. So what’s the issue?”
“There’s no issue.” Binyamin cleared his throat. “On the contrary, I’m very happy to hear that there are more Jews in the world, especially Jews who are not afraid to openly identify themselves as Jews.”
No response. He just hoped that this was not a trap that the Wangels had set somehow on their side of the line!
Bentzy, in the factory, looked at his father, and his lower lip curled outward in puzzlement. “I think this call is connected to that other
one from the crazy reporter,” he whispered, putting his hand on the mouthpiece. “He says he’s Jewish, and he’s happy to hear that there are other Jews in the world! And that we’re not afraid to admit it!”
“Tell him that you’re not sure why he is so happy,” his father urged.
“Excuse me,” Bentzy said. “I’m really happy that you are happy, of course, but I don’t really understand why that’s such a wonderful thing.”
The young man was quiet. “Isn’t discovering that the Nazis didn’t succeed in killing all the Jews in the world a happy thing?” he asked finally.
“Of course it is. My grandmother was thrilled with every living Jewish child that she met after liberation. But I apologize if I sound a bit indifferent, but decades have passed since then.”
“Since when?”
“Since World War II was over.”
“And what happened at the end? The Nazis were defeated?”
Binyamin was quiet for a long moment. “I really am lacking details, it seems,” he whispered after the pause, and then stood up. The Wangels could be waking up already. If so, he should finish this conversation quickly. But he couldn’t do that before he confirmed once again that he’d heard right! “I really am lacking details,” he repeated, “and I’d love if you could fill them in for me. Can I call tomorrow at this time to speak to you again?”
"Isn’t discovering that the Nazis didn’t succeed in killing all the Jews in the world a happy thing?"
“If you tell me who you are,” Bentzy said, rubbing his finger on the glass desktop.
“We are a group of Jews who live on the estate of a few Nazis who are hiding us. There are a few Wehrmacht people on the outside who cooperate with these Nazis.”
“The Wehrmacht?” Bentzy cut him off. “That doesn’t exist anymore!”
“Yes, I understood that but we thought until recently that it did. Do you understand?”
“Are you playing games with me, sir?” Bentzy didn’t know if he should be angry or amused. “Maybe you can tell me, once and for all, who you are and which cave you’ve just emerged from? You seem to be lacking very basic details of Europe’s history and of the world in general.”
“Not really. Listen, it seems that you’re pulling a trick on me.”
“No, no, I’m really not.” The sun was rising on the horizon, and the pressure in Binyamin’s temples was mounting. “Of course I sound strange to you, and I’ll be happy to speak to you tomorrow to

explain myself more, if you agree, but could you just confirm for me again what you said? Meaning, that there are Jews remaining in the world after the war?”
“Absolutely.”
“And they are not imprisoned in Nazi labor camps?”
“Chas v’shalom!”
“And the Nazis ” His voice began to shake, and he felt tears coming to his eyes, not only because of the sun. “They don’t control every continent in the world?”
“Not at all.”
“And the Cosmos-Fuehrer?”
“The Fuehrer? Do you mean Adolf Hitler, yemach shemo v’zichro?”
“Yes. He didn’t die last year?”
It was all a game. Someone was pulling a joke on him. Because if not, who was this person and what did he want? But something in the young man’s trembling voice persuaded Bentzy to play along. “He committed suicide at the end of the war, in 1945—I don’t remember the exact day, shortly after the war ended in Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender, along with its allies.”
“Okay, thank you ”
With shaky fingers, Binyamin wrapped the phone with the piece of leather he had brought with him and buried it in the ground at the foot of the tree. He hurried to cover up any sign of the hideaway he’d created, and without looking back, strode toward the factory, making sure to walk on grass and not on bare ground, where he might leave footprints.
From afar, he noticed that the paths were almost empty, and only a few people were still hurrying to work. Good, he was better off not meeting anyone now who might wonder where he was coming
from.
He bypassed the factory and doubled back to the entrance courtyard.
“I thought you’d stay here to eat your breakfast,” Leo Sherer, already standing at the door, said. He was holding his notebook in one hand and waving his pen, like a baton, in the other hand.
“It was very stuffy inside, so I preferred to eat outside,” Binyamin said. Without another word, he walked into the factory. He heard footsteps behind him, but he didn’t turn around. The familiar odor made him nauseous, and he felt like vomiting.
But he wouldn’t. He wouldn’t. He couldn’t do anything that would attract needless attention.
He did need to speak to some people, though. The question was who. The rav. Zeide. Elkovitz, of course. Uncle Yidel. With people who understood, who would help him shatter this charlatan rule they were living under.
It would not be simple, of course. The Wangels had weapons, and they had nothing.
They needed to think of cautious, logical, and risk-free ways, to the extent that it was possible. He couldn’t put the lives of so many people at risk in a few hasty minutes.
Wangel was capable of anything; he didn’t need much proof for that.
The person walking behind him continued following him down the hall, at the same pace, and his footsteps echoed in the empty space, as if he was trying forcibly to make it known that he was there.
Binyamin took a deep breath, turned around, and smiled wanly at Elkovitz.

LEMON HERB ROASTED POTATOES
In so many homes, potatoes are an essential dinner staple. This week, we elevate the simple spud with vibrant, fresh flavors to brighten up any main you’re serving.
Ingredients:
2 pounds small red skin potatoes
4 Tablespoons olive oil
2 cubes chopped parsley
3 cubes chopped garlic
Juice of 1-2 lemons
Zest of 1 lemon
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
½ teaspoon dried rosemary, optional
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 425° and line a metal baking sheet with parchment paper.
Clean the potatoes and pat dry. Cut each potato into small pieces, and place them into a large bowl.
Add the rest of the ingredients and use your hands to mix well, making sure they’re all fully coated (you can also do this step directly on the baking sheet).
Transfer the potatoes to the prepared baking sheet and bake for 35-40 minutes until the potatoes are golden and crisp on the edges. Stir the potatoes about every 10 minutes during cooking to make sure they are cooking evenly. Remove from oven and serve warm.
NOTE: If you don’t have red skin potatoes, you can use white-skin baby potatoes, Yukon Golds or a different variety that you prefer.
TANGY OYSTER STEAK
Sometimes, just a bit of lemon zest can make all the difference. This juicy, citrus-infused oyster steak has just that. It’s so simple to make and absolutely delicious.
Ingredients:
1 lb. oyster steak olive oil, to drizzle salt, to taste black pepper, to taste
4 garlic cloves, crushed
The zest of ½ lemon
1/4 cup Manischewitz Beef Broth or boiling water mixed with 1 teaspoon beef soup mix
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°.
Heat a grill pan or cast iron pan until piping hot. Meanwhile, pat dry the oyster steak and drizzle with oil on both sides. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and add the lemon zest and crushed garlic. Rub the mixture into the meat.
Once the pan is really hot, spray it with some cooking spray and add the meat.
Sear the steak on all sides, (about 2-3 minutes per side), or until it looks nice and crispy.
In the same pan, or in a separate foil (disposable) pan, add the beef broth or boiling water- mixed with the beef soup mix.
Add the steak to the pan (if it’s not already there) and bake for 20-23 minutes.
Remove from oven and let stand for 5 minutes. Slice and serve. Return to the oven if you prefer it more well-done (bear in mind, it can get dry if it bakes for too long).
AQAre freshly grown or store-bought herbs better in nutritional quality than store-bought frozen herb cubes?
When it comes to cooking with herbs, freshness can make a huge difference. But if you’re trying to save time or avoid waste, those handy frozen herb cubes from the freezer section might look tempting, especially with no checking required. So, the big question is: Is growing your own herbs or buying herbs better in quality than using frozen herb cubes?
Let’s break it down:
Nothing beats the vibrant flavor and aroma of a freshly snipped herb from your own plant. Fresh herbs contain essential oils that are responsible for their taste and smell. These oils start degrading as soon as the herb is harvested. Frozen cubes do a decent job of preserving herbs quickly after harvest, but they lose some of that bright, lively quality that makes fresh herbs so special.
Fresh herbs contain higher levels of vitamins (like Vitamin C) and antioxidants right after harvest. Freezing preserves many nutrients, but not all. Some delicate compounds can be reduced over time in the freezer.
Frozen cubes are very convenient—no chopping, no washing, no spoilage. But growing your own herbs is also surprisingly easy and, once established, can be just as convenient. A quick snip from a pot on your windowsill is easier (and cheaper) in the long run than buying cubes regularly.
Frozen herb cubes can add up financially. Growing your own herbs requires a small upfront investment in seeds, soil, and pots, but you’ll get a constant supply for months—and sometimes years. Growing your own means no packaging waste, no mystery preservatives, and the ability to grow organically without pesticides.
Whether you have a backyard, a small balcony, or just a sunny windowsill, you can grow your own herbs easily. Here's how:
Supplies You'll Need:
Small pots (at least 6 inches deep) with drainage holes
Potting soil (choose a light, welldraining mix)
Herb seeds or small starter plantshave fun with these at your local nursery!
A sunny spot (at least 6 hours of sun daily) or a grow light
A small watering can or spray bottle
Step 1: Choose your herbs. Here are some choices:
Basil (perfect for pasta, salads, and sauces)
Parsley (great for garnishes, soups, and stews)
Cilantro
Mint (ideal for drinks and desserts)
Thyme (amazing for roasted vegetables and meats)
Oregano (perfect for Italian dishes)
Step 2: Pick the right pots-Use pots with good drainage.
Step 3: Plant your herbs-Starting from seeds:
Fill the pot with potting soil, leaving about an inch from the top. Gently sprinkle seeds on the surface.
Cover them lightly with a thin layer of soil (check the seed packet for depth instructions).
Mist with water until the soil is moist but not soggy.
Starting from starter plants:
Dig a hole in the soil big enough for the roots.
Gently remove the plant from its container and place it in the hole.
Press the soil around the plant snugly.
Water well.
Step 4: Place in a sunny spot
Herbs need at least 6 hours of sunlight a day.
Tip: Rotate your pots every few days so the plants grow evenly instead of bending toward the light.
Step 5: Water wisely
Stick your finger into the soil. If it feels dry up to your first knuckle, it’s time to water.
Water at the base, not over the leaves.
Avoid letting the plants sit in water; herbs hate "wet feet."
Step 6: Harvest the right way
Snip herbs with clean scissors.
Always cut above a leaf node (where a leaf meets the stem)—this encourages the plant to become bushier.
Don’t cut off more than a third of the plant at once, especially when it’s young.
Bonus tip:
For herbs like basil, pinch off any flowers that form. Once herbs flower, they focus energy on seeds instead of leaves, making them taste bitter.
Have fun with your herb garden! It is a very rewarding feeling!

Reading Chana’s story on Rosh Hashana teaches us how to approach our Davening on this day, but also on any day. In the story, Eli thought Chana’s prayer for a child was self-centered –“drunken”. Similarly, asking for our needs on Rosh Hashana seems selfish, especially when the focus of this day is crowning Hashem as King. In reality, Chana’s request stemmed from her soul’s desire to have a son to give over to the service of Hashem. In the same vein, our requests for physical needs reflect our soul’s desire to use everything material we have to serve Hashem.
4. FUN FACT
We read Chana’s story on the first day of Rosh Hashana because on this day Hashem “remembered” her after 19 years of being childless.
4,000 5,000
1. LIFE STORY SNIPPET
Chana, one of the wives of Elkanah, is listed among the 7 Nevios. While Elkanah’s other wife, Penina, had children, Chana was childless, which was very painful for her. On one journey to the Mikdash, Chana poured out her heart to Hashem, begging for a child, whom she promised to devote completely to His service. Eli the Kohen Gadol saw her lips moving as she swayed. At first, he thought she was drunk, but soon realized instead she was praying with much fervor. He blessed her to have a son, and in due time, she gave birth to Shmuel, whom she dedicated to Hashem from a very young age. Eventually, he grew up to be a great leader of the Jewish people.
3. BRINGING IT DOWN
It may feel self-centered to Daven and ask Hashem for our wants & needs, but we should certainly ask, knowing that the reason we are drawn to asking for these things is because our soul has a mission to accomplish with them.
5. QUESTION TO CONSIDER
What is a request you have for Hashem? If Hashem gave you what you are asking for, how would you use it to serve Him better?
Cut out the paper template .
Take out the template and flip over the canister.
TEFILLAH ROCKETS CHANA
Tape the picture to form a circle that will fit inside the film canister, and then place it inside with the picture facing out.
Add ¾ tablespoon of water, 1 drop of orange food coloring, and ¼ teaspoon of red glitter.
Blast Off! Step back and wait for the big POP—the tefillah rocket will shoot up toward shamayim! 7
S C I E N C E U N C OV E R E D
On the outside of the canister, use permanent markers to color in the design. Let it dry, then trace over the lines with black puff paint. Let that dry.
Go outside to a safe, open area where the rocket can fly. Drop ¼ Alka-Seltzer tablet into the canister, snap the lid on quickly, and turn it upside down on the ground.
When you mix Alka-Seltzer and water inside a film canister and snap the lid shut, the tablet starts to fizz and makes a gas called carbon dioxide. Since the gas has nowhere to go, it builds up pressure inside the canister. When there’s too much pressure, the lid pops off, and the canister blasts into the air like a mini rocket! This happens because the gas pushes really hard until it forces the canister to shoot up — just like how real rockets work by pushing gas out to lift off the ground.
