The perfect place to participate in “Folgaria Board Mania” Freestyle in Folgaria, with skies or a snowboard, from flat tricks to more challenging jumps, from easier boxes to more impetuous rails. Our instructors are waiting for you. And if you wish to challenge yourself with the steepness and difficulties of ungroomed slopes, always in the company of an instructor, the Folgaria ski schools offer lessons, when permitted, in Freeriding. Freeriding is a discipline that takes place on un-groomed snow, without a set course, goals or rules.

The ski area, which is totally secure, has slopes that are suitable for this discipline.

Skiing is a sport that is loved by many and over the years the style and equipment has been perfected. For a person with disabilities, be they motor, sensory or cognitive, skiing often remains a distant dream. In Folgaria, thanks to Trails of Passion and a ski area without barriers, you can experience the thrill of the descent with equipment suitable for all types of disabilities.

• You can ski independently in an enchanting landscape • The installations have been equipped with devices that enable you to use them with ease and with the help of appropriately trained staff • You can take a problem-free break in one of eight lodges, all equipped with special bathrooms • On your arrival in the accessible lodges, you will find a wheelchair for moving around the lodge independently • You and your companion are entitled to a discount of 50% on the subscription • You can attend the Trails of Passion ski school with instructors that are specialised in teaching people with disabilities, and the lessons are organised according to the specific needs of the pupils.

Mauro Bernardi was born on June 12th, 1977, in the town of Gazzaniga in the Province of Bergamo. Married to Claudia since 2005, father of Peter since 2010, he lives with his family in Albino (BG).

Following a road accident while at work on the morning of August 31st 2005, Mauro is now a person with a physical disability (paraplegia). Mauro’s new life in a wheelchair opened up a series of new and unexpected opportunities: after having passed an aptitude test in June 2011, he was admitted to the ski instructor training courses organized by the Snowsports Academy San Marino: today he boasts a Ski Instructor III qualification, and is now an adaptive ski instructor who teaches people that in order to practice this sport, you have to use the same aids and supports (the technical term for this category is “sitting”).

Initiatives and projects aimed at making the Folgaria area accessible to people with disabilities have been going on for some time now. The interventions, which involve various participants from the area, have helped spread a cultural predisposition towards the issue of accessible tourism and creating a “normal” atmosphere for disabled guests on the slopes and trails, as well as in the establishments of the territory. The territory now feels the need to create a local organic project for accessibility, which will further implement and develop matured experience and put the mountain of Folgaria on the map as a true destination for accessible tourism.

For sports lovers 100 km OF PURE BIKING If you are a professional cyclist or a lover of mountain biking, there are 100 km of trails waiting for you, with the possibility of choosing different ascents and levels of difficulty, alone, with friends or in the company of the instructors who work in Folgaria. You can either bring your own bike or rent one. And if you want to take it easy, you can even rent an electric bike with pedal assist.

TREKKING AND NORDIC WALKING For lovers of walking and hiking, the Trentino mountain of Folgaria offers a Nordic Walking Park equipped with directional and explanatory signs. The trails are designed to offer lovers of this discipline different alternatives for satisfying the most varied needs: the Folgaria Hospitality establishments offer special packages that include the hire of walking sticks, transfer to routes and lessons with an instructor.

NEWS: A RENOVATED 18 HOLE GOLF COURSE FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HORSE RIDING Golfing takes place on the Maso Spilzi course, in Costa di Folgaria. This 18-hole golf course is situated in the beautiful valley of Costa, at 1,200 meters above sea level. The course is built around the Ecken biotope, a valuable protected area of natural interest. The nearby Maso Spilzi, a large country house dating back to 1700, houses the Club House and a refreshment bar with a restaurant. The golf course is nestled in a typical Alpine setting, with coniferous forests, small grassy glades and large open meadows.

The horse riding centres offer both individual and group lessons for all ages and all levels. HORSE TREKKING: ancient medieval trails through age-old forests, former military roads that lead to what was once the Trentino front during the Great War, on the frontline of the Austro-Hungarian fortresses, paths through protected natural areas. At an altitude of between 1000 and 1800 m, surrounded by a succession of sweeping panoramas and exhilarating landscapes: this is the backdrop that accompanies both horses and riders.
