A SPECIAL TROPHY FOR A SPECIAL RACE: THE AL BASTI EQUIWORLD DUBAI DANTE Born in Ireland and raised amongst thoroughbreds in County Tipperary, Jody Keating’s love of the horse was obvious to those who knew him. As a young man, Jody travelled the globe working on some of the very best stud farms in Italy, Ireland and the New Zealand before settling outside Newmarket in the village of Cheveley where he manages a boutique stud and lives with his wife Manuela and their two girls, Rebecca and Niamh. Jody is a self-taught accomplished artist, whose creations are scattered around the world. In the past few years, Jody has specialised in wire sculpting, predominantly of animals. He uses chicken wire, a humble and versatile material which he sources from local people and businesses, who are happy to donate their waste material knowing that it will be recycled and transformed into beautiful and lasting objects. Jody worked, in his spare time for almost a month spending 40 hours with chicken wire that was previously used on a thatched roof in his local village to create today’s Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Group 2 Dante Stakes Trophy.
